Zooey Deschanel & Jonathan Scott 'Bonded Over Shared Love Of Music'

It’s nothing but smooth sailing for new lovebirds Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott!

Word only got out about the couple last week after the two met a month earlier when appearing on an episode of Carpool Karaoke together with their respective siblings Emily Deschanel and Drew Scott. So, what sealed the deal?

A source shared with People (below) more about the budding romance and what they have in common:

“He makes her laugh and he’s so sweet to her. They bonded over shared love of music. He’s very close to his family and loves children.”

Following their filming for James Corden‘s show, the foursome kept the party going and “did karaoke together in L.A.” Fun!!

The news of this budding romance comes shortly after the New Girl star and her husband Jacob Pechenik announced they were parting ways. In a statement to People, a rep for the couple shared the news (below):

“After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners. We remain committed to our business, our values and most of all our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time.”

Despite her recent split, the 39-year-old is reportedly “really happy and in a good place,” the source shared, and it probably has to do with her new beau!!

The confidant continued (below):

“He lives in Las Vegas, so they’ve seen each other in L.A.”

Hey, distance makes the heart grow fonder!

But it’s not too serious just yet. The Property Brothers star has not met the star’s children with Pechenik, four-year-old daughter Elsie Otter or two-year-old son Charlie Wolf.

Previously, a source shared with the publication it was the 41-year-old’s “great sense of humor” which drew in Miz Deschanel. The insider continued (below):

“They were all talented and spontaneous and they had a really fun time shooting the show. They became friends after and then started talking as friends and realized there was more to it. It’s still a very new relationship.”

So what does Zooey’s ex make of all this? He’s actually handling it all quite well! Speaking to HollywoodLife, the film producer shared his response:

“Everything is amicable and we have two beautiful children together. We’ve been raising them and we’re going to continue to raise them, and take great care of get them… I’m happy. … [Zooey and I] haven’t had so many differences when it comes to the business, we both know what our strengths and weaknesses are and turn to each other for suggestions or advice on the other person’s expertise.”
