Zooey Deschanel‘s estranged husband is letting the whole world know how he feels about the Jonathan Scott news!
The New Girl actress’ former partner, Jacob Pechenik, is now speaking out for the first time ever since the star was first linked to the Property Brothers star, as we wrote about right here on Saturday morning!

Speaking to HollywoodLife about the split, Pechenik sure made it sound like things were going remarkably well for the couple right now despite being estranged — and apparently, their relatively amicable breakup ought to do wonders for their two “beautiful” children.
Pechenik wrote (below):
“Everything is amicable and we have two beautiful children together. We’ve been raising them and we’re going to continue to raise them, and take great care of get them… I’m happy. … [Zooey and I] haven’t had so many differences when it comes to the business, we both know what our strengths and weaknesses are and turn to each other for suggestions or advice on the other person’s expertise.”
Very mature!
Of course, Pechenik and Deschanel share the company Lettuce Grow together, too, in addition to being co-parents and (now former) life partners. The business aims to create a system that allows everyone to grow 20 percent of their own fresh food at home with no pesticides and 95 percent less water than traditional agriculture, which is interesting and ambitious, to say the least.

As you might recall, the TV star and Pechenik — who first wed in 2015 — have two children together, 4-year-old daughter Elsie Otter and 2-year-old son Charlie Wolf. The pair had apparently been separated for several months from each other before the news was announced publicly, however.
But as you might recall at the time of the announcement, the couple released a joint statement through their rep to People, which read (below):
“After much discussion and a long period of contemplation we have decided we are better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners. We remain committed to our business, our values and most of all our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy at this time.”
So they’ve been pretty mature and amicable about everything since the beginning of the end, then!
Here’s to hoping these two can continue to successfully navigate the waters of co-parenting and carrying on an amicable relationship. It can’t be the easiest thing in the world, but here’s to them succeeding — if only for their children!
