America just does not like these two together!
On the heels of their underperforming movie El Cantante, which dropped more than 56% this at the box office this weekend, the much hyped Jennifer Lopez/Marc Anthony has come out the gates with a whimper.
Tickets for many cities (including Atlantic City, Chicago, Washington DC and two shows in New York) went on sale this weekend and not one show sold out. Sales were just soft.
In fact, a few of the shows are so undersold, you can still get floor seats or Lower Level seats near the stage on Ticketmaster.com.
J. Lo, who has never done a proper tour of the U.S., should have just done her own show. Then we wouldn't have to sit through all of Skeletor's songs!

It isn't that people don't like them together…remember that duet they put out back in the late 90s? Everyone loved that. You could hear thousands of non-Spanish speaking people trying to sing every word of that song. Regardless, it just could be that not many people are interested in seeing this movie. Some movies flop…let's get on with it. They aren't going to starve because of this. And if J-Lo can survive the shitbomb that was Gigli…she can survive anything!

To them it just might be another biopic or another JLo project because many don't understand the force that was Hector & Puchi. Perez, don't you know anything about Marc Anthony? He was one of the main salsa voices of the 90s. Contra La Corriete was an amazing album, plus his duets with La India are the best.

Regardless of Marc being a "skeletor", he is nonetheless a great artist. His English music might be soft and over commercialized but you can not dis-merit his ability as one of the best Spanish songwriters of our day. No one out there can beat his musical prowess. Man is god when it comes to music.

I saw El Cantante and actually did think it was a decent film. J Lo did a dramatic portrayl of Puchi and actually was somewhat believable…as opposed to her past cheesy roles in The Cell, Monster-In-Law, etc. (you get the point). Marc was decent too but actually paying money to see her and skeletor sing…NO THANK YOU! It is no surprise their shows didn't sell out…they are both sell outs!

Personally, if it were only Marc I would go see his concert. His shows are amazing. I don't want to see her perform. I've seen them perform together on tv before and he totally outshines her. Most Americans aren't aware of how huge Marc Anthony is in the spanish speaking world. He is one of the biggest voices in salsa music; he's very talented. Although this is an english speaking country, there is a huge latin community that would see his show. Jennifer is only a mediocre singer and actress. I think her problem always is oversaturation. The focus is on her relationship instead of the work.

Marc Anthony is a great vocalist and was best known as a salsa singer. While his material has become mainly ballads and soft latin pop in recent years it's the salsa that is his bread and butter and what his fans go to his concerts to hear.
JLO is a good entertainer, dancer but not known as a good singer. Performs pop with slight elements of r n'b and a bit of latin here and there.
Why would fans of one actualy want to suffer through the other in concert? This tour will only appeal to die hard fans of either that never miss an opportunity to see one them tour and the minority of people that likes both their music.

Gloria Stefan was born in Cuba, she speaks perfectly Spanish, she dosn't learn it to sell albums, and is very fund of her cuban roots.
JLo has puertorican roots, that's all, I just saw her in a show in Spain promoting her new Spanish album and her Spanish was awful, sometimes she had to be translated, there's a catchy song on the album though, the one she always sings on the promotions.
Marc Antony is not Cuban, he's puertorican and a great singer.
I was told the movie sucks, is all about drugs and there's much more in Hector Lavoe's life than that.

Perez, I took my Mother (65) and Nana (87) to El Cantante a few days ago. We loved it! Loved it Perezzzzzz. We were in full agreement Marc Anthony was not only talented but delicious! I though JLo did well as usual. But, it was annoying how perfect she looked in every scene/completely controlled. It took away from the depth of the film.

I got tickets to the Madison Square Garden concert & I can't wait. & The reason why there's floor seats still available is because the tickets are $250 bucks!!! Who's going to pay that much? I know I'm not, so I paid less & I'll still be at the concert because there's no way I want to waste $500 + on 2 concert tickets!!!
