David Tennant is Leaving Dr. Who

The tenth face of England's Dr. Who, David Tennant, is bowing out of the show after five years with the wildly successful and highly esteemed science fiction drama.
He will appear in the Christmas episode and 4 hour long specials to air in 2009 and 2010. But after that, it will be time for someone new to take on the role of the shape-shifting time-traveling alien.
Tennant said of his departure, "This show has been so special to me. I don't want to outstay my welcome."
Tennant, who is a classically trained actor, is now starring as Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Shakespeare's famous play.

He has been, by far, the best Doctor. Doctor Who is literally the only sci-fi I can stand, mostly because David is so excellent. I don't think I will watch once he is gone but I wish the show luck.
I've said it before and I will say it again…David Tennant for the Riddler in the next Batman movie. He was born for the role and us Americans need to see the talent that is Tennant!

I don't actually like Doctor Who, but he's a nice guy. This has raised his profile in the UK considerably.
Oh much sadness, but hopefully the rumors about Hamlet hitting Broadway are true, and he can finally get more exposure in the US.

David has been one of my very favorite actors for quite a few years now. God he is so sexy. He's definitely been the best Dr., but I can see how he wouldn't want to stay too long. At least he stayed way longer than Eccleston.

doctor who is my all time favorite show. i am american and i have loved it since childhood. david tennant is my absolute favorite doctor so the news that hes leaving is heartbreaking. i wish he was more popular in america so i would be able to get my tennant fix!
This was the worse news of the day. He will always be my favorite Doctor. He will be greatly missed and the show just won't be the same.

I am a die-hard Tennant fan, and will be very, very sad to see him leave this role. I'm willing to give the next Doctor a chance, but there will always be a special place for #10 in my heart. As for a lack of available Tennant material, I'm not worried…David will always be working on something, either onstage or for the BBC…so, I can always get my fix when I need it. And to those folks posting here who don't know of him, or of Doctor Who, I am extremely grateful. We don't need you. You can keep your negative attitudes and begone with you! Oi!!!
I started watching Doctor Who this year and I'm hooked. David Tennant is truly made for the part and I am sad that he's leaving. It's too long of a wait for the next season though.

In all fairness, Classic!Who was filmed in solely England for years. Now, it's filmed and produced by BBC Wales, but only because RTD is Welsh himself. But while I'm sad to see DT leave, I knew this was coming. I'm still upset about Christopher Eccleston and my father never really got over Tom Baker leaving back in the early 80's.
I wish DT the best of luck with all his projects.
