The World's Oldest Living Person Dies

The world's oldest living person died on Friday.
Maria de Jesus became the world's oldest person at age 115 after the death of Edna Parker, also 115, in November.
Maria was born in Portugal on September 10th, 1893. She never learned to read or write, and according to her daughter, Maria Madalena, she never "fell ill, nor took any medication" while working the fields and raising her 6 children.
American Gertrude Baines, born April 6, 1894 is now the world's oldest living person.
Rest in peace!
P.S. Is it a coincidence that someone named after Jesus AND Mary lived to be 115???

Re: Diamondhearted – Agreed! To imagine all of the technology in her lifetime…it boggles the mind! I didn't have internet while in my teen years or early 20's (it just wasn't available) and now I can't imagine a day without it. She saw it all! That's humbling. May she rest in peace!
A time back I read of a Lady who was 105 who was determined to learn to use the internet so she wasn't behind the times. Never underestimate these wonderful older women. Older, but never old!

Im Portuguese and here in Portugal Maria de Jesus is a very common name, speacially in the country, where traditional names are widely used
