i vacation every winter in Cuba and find that the people there love their country and don't really have a problem with Castro. it's the people who no longer live there that are so reactionary, and after that incident where they tried to keep Elián González from being with his father in Cuba, i have a hard time respecting the opinions of Cuban americans.

Thank god someone has enough brains to acknowledge what Castro has done for his people…i hope Castros legacy lives on and they still dont let stupid americans in their country!!!! The Cuban people know what Fidel did to them but they could never say anything, unless they lived in Miami and then they said plenty. Why did the world press maintain such a wall of silence around his oppression and suppression and around the truth that the Cuban people could not speak unless they were outside of Cuba? It was a great injustice all around, and there is blame to be placed everywhere. But maybe now at last Cuba can be free and prosperous, with normal political parties and elections, and can return to being what it once was, and always should be, the jewel of the Caribbean.
He has a brother who was acting dictator while Fidel was hospitalized. By all accounts he just as much an asshole and tyrant as Fidel.
