It's totally true. Grunge wasn't about fun. It was about being angry, and pissed off at being unable to define yourself, and it was also about getting rid of all of those shit hair rock bands like Poison, Cinderella, Skid Row, and the like…

Actually, many of Nirvana's songs were quite fun and humorous. But I wouldn't expect Brandon Flowers to understand that. He's just regurgitating bs that other people have said. Flowers took the sense, originality and balls out of rock and roll.
I've yet to hear him say anything that makes a bit of sense. He needs to keep his mouth closed and while he's at it, put his pen down. I don't know if I could live with another lyric like, "Are we human or are we dancer?" And before you tell me it's based off of a Hunter S Thompson quote, the original quote makes no sense either and the way Flowers interpreted the line makes even less sense.

Whatever, "Flowers". Kurt Cobain influenced a hell of a lot more people than "The Killers" ever could hope. Grunge was a movement, and it may not have seemed pretty, but it was positive, in a way, and is a piece of American history. At least Cobain was original and wasn't trying to be like David Bowie by wearing feathered jumpsuits, or trying to be New Wave. Go back to Las Vegas, azzwipe.

He's 100% right. Rock n Roll died when grunge came out and it never recovered. The 60's and 70's acts were the best and the 80's were still ok even though they were a little cheesy, but grunge SUCKED.

Prior to grunge rock might have been "fun" if you consider the prevalent form at time, Hairmetal, fun. I was glad something new came along and usurped the throne from those aquanet and mascara loving homophobes. (Irony, anyone?). Maybe "grunge" wasn't fun, but it was an honest reflection of its times. And the Killers had one amazing record (their first). I don't find their faux-springsteen posturing all that amusing…or fun. I was an active participant in the grunge era in Seattle and I can attest that this guy does not know what he's talking about! It was without a doubt the most fun I ever had! You just don't see mosh pits or stage dives like the ones in the 90s anymore.
Brandon or whatever his name is needs to go back and listen to Bleach and then try to tell me it's not "fun." Also, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is one of the best written rock & roll songs ever. Pearl Jam has also had some awesome rock & roll songs over the years… and if you listen to the lyrics from the other bands, much of it is purposefully funny or ironic… This guy must not be intelligent enough to pick up on that.
I guess he'd prefer that we skipped the 'grunge era' altogether, so today we could be listening to music descended from the wonderful 80s bands of L.A. like Poison, Europe and Tesla.
