What I'd like to know is: For those who are so bent on keeping *Opposite marriage* the only option for all citizens; do they also adhere to no sex before marriage? No children outside of marriage? Spare the rod? Traditional marriage, between men and women, is a religious ceremony. Religious. The government then decided to add bonuses for such unions. Gay marriages are NOT religious. But they should be lawful, in my opinion, and I am the epitome of middle America. If we are to ban gay marriage, are we to ban divorce? That's against many religious decrees. Are we to ban second, third, and fourth marriages? Are people who have children outside marriage, second-class citizens? Those are religious views, and I don't want them governing my laws. And I'm not even gay.

Isn't that what America was based on. Didn't the pilgrims come here to get out of the Church of England? Or did I miss that day in History. The thing is god gave us all a freedom of will so no matter what your country decides the laws are YOU are still at liberty to make your own choices and to voice those choices that is what freedom of will is. If she is going to further polarize herself from millions of Americans (and Californians, for that matter) by propagating such a contentious political issue, she is effectively undermining everything those pageants stand for, and she should resign if she has any respect for them at all.
