The Jimmy Kimmel Live host underwent an emergency appendectomy in Los Angeles last night.

"The surgery was a success," his publicist, Lewis Kay, tells PerezHilton.com.

The rest of this week's tapings of his ABC talk show have been cancelled until he is back on his feet.

"He is resting comfortably and is looking forward to getting back to work," his rep tells us.
