Famed songwriter Ellie Greenwich has passed away at the age of 68.
Greenwich died of a heart attack at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York, where she had been in the hospital fighting pneumonia.
So sad!
Ellie penned the songs for the Tony-nominated musical Leader of the Pack as well as being responsible for the classics Be My Baby, Da Doo Ron Ron and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).
Ellie worked with some of the biggest names in the biz - Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, Phil Spector and even Miz Cyndi Lauper!
She will be sorely missed.

So young! Don't forget she worked with the incomparable Darlene Love, who sang those songs with the Ronettes.

Re: Plan9Vamp – Darlene Love sang lead (uncredited) for the Crystals, not the Ronettes, that was Ronnie Spector, although Darlene did do background vocals on a lot of Phil Spector records, including a few of the Ronettes (Cher did as well).
Ellie's body of work speaks for itself… pop classics
Too much! RIP sweet lady!

RIP, but what does this make it now… like 9 or 10 celeb deaths now? Not a good year!
that sucks.
i had no idea she even existed, but i really like those songs. classics!
she put her talent above fame-whoring ways, and did what gaga should still be doing, writing in a little room hiding her uglyass mug in a big thick building with no windows.
Sorry to hear this!!! She was awesome! What a great, talented woman!
