The pic took in a very healthy $28 mill.
Meanwhile, Tom Cruise's latest film, Lions for Lambs, is officially a disaster.
The flick plummeted all the way to #8, taking in an anaemic $2.9 million.

Well said. Seems the strategy from the get to was to bring Cruise in so if it fails, they have someone to blame…BY THE WAY, when was the last time Redford had a hit? Longer than Cruise…I rest my case.
It's an easier thing to say than to admit that it's a badly written and boring movie about a very complicated subject matter that everyone has a strong opinion about. Redford should stick to character studies (Ordinary People, A River Runs Through it). He's a master at those…not this.
2007 had to be the worst year for women in movies in history. I hope next year fares better.

OMG, I saw Beowulf on the IMAX yesterday and it was friggin AWESOME!!!! I didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly suprised and entertained.
So what if Angelina has a No one Movie? Why should somebody mention Aniston's name here. People never grow up, does it make it right that Angelina is a thief? People just learn to respect Aniston and leave her alone, she has moved on and doing too great by the way she is the most bankable actress right now. If she wasn't in it, it would have definitely made far more money.

Whorelie was in the movie for 6 1/2 minutes. It was NOT her film. Why are you atributing this to the ho? She can't open or carry a movie on her name alone.
Anyway, Beowulf is a BOMB. It cost $150 million to make. That, plus marketing, it will never make a profit. And 40% of this film's revenue came from IMAX theaters. If they hadn't tried to save face by making it such a wide IMAX release, it would have seriously bombed. There was no competition at the BO this weekend, Beowulf marketed itself as a 300-style epic to teen boys, and yet it still failed on such a massive scale. It didn't come close to what 300 made, and will fall off the map in the coming weeks. I predict it will make less than $75 million domestic. BOMB!!
This movie sucks. It skips large parts of the real story of Beowulf. Angelina did her thing, but overall I give in a THUMBS DOWN!
