A Singer Opens Up About Being "Terrorized By Boy George"

Boy George Crushes Dreams

It's so disappointing to hear this happened to anyone, especially someone working on getting their dreams to come true.

It seemed like some sort of cruel joke for singer Coby Koehl, who in a whirlwind of luck ended up being a protege of Boy George through Facebook (thanks, Mark Zuckerberg!), and then being left high and dry after a night of character assassinations and insults.

After hearing Coby's voice, Boy insisted on him being flown to England to stay and perform some shows. Everything went swimmingly, and George even wanted to manage Coby, and have him open for him on tour!

On Coby's second trip back, however, things changed for the worse. George started complaining that Coby was "too nice," when all Coby wanted to do was be appreciative and respectful for the opportunity.

Then things got worse. VH1 was doing a remaster of Behind the Music when George started talking up Coby, which was fantastic, until he tried to force him to sing a song in Hebrew for the crew.

Coby found it offensive:

"And then he wanted me to get up and sing a song in Hebrew, which I thought didn't represent me, and would alienate my audience. He's throwing me under the bus! So people wouldn't relate to me, I think. And that's what the big fight was about. At one point, I was mentioned in every magazine article and on television. I was getting really great publicity; he was really pushing me. And it was an incredible feeling. And then all these expectations — I was supposed to go on tour, I was supposed to have an album out with him, and then it just fell out of the blue. It just all of a sudden, in the switch of a light, in a second, it all just changed. Immediately. It was devastating."

That's horrible! We can't imagine what that would feel like!

George then continued his anti-Coby tirades, having friends ruin opportunities for him at recording studios and the lot.

Coby tries not to be malicious about it, because despite everything he still really appreciates the things George and his family did for him, regardless of how it ended.

So sad. But Coby still continues to sing, knowing that that can never be taken from him!

Keep it up, Coby! We hope things happen for you!

How do you feel about Coby's story??

Avril Lavigne Dissed By Xtina!

In an interview after the BRIT Awards last night, Avril Lavigne shared that Christina Aguilera, who is repped by the same manager AND on the same label, was "really mean" one time when she said hi!

Uh-oh! Is there some dramz brewing between Xtina and Avril?

Avril has even developed an expression for her encounter with the pop diva as she continued to talk about meeting pop icon Boy George that night, saying:

"I said to my friends, 'Okay, well you know what? I'm going to go over to Boy George and hopefully he won't pull a Christina on me.'"

A "Christina"? Was it that bad?!

Check out the entire interview above to get all the details on Avril's night at the award show, presenting to fellow Canadian superstar Justin Bieber, and of course Avril's encounter with Xtina!

Boy George Sends Fan Autographed Album After A Decade Of Waiting

Worth the wait, we think!

If you follow Boy George on Twitter, you know that the former Culture Club star has been clearing out his London home and has been tweeting about all the fun stuff he's been finding. Recently, he uncovered a letter from a devoted fan from ten years ago, asking him to sign the enclosed CC album, Colour By Numbers.

To the fan's delight and surprise, shortly after, he finally received his signed album, with love from George!

Aw sweet!

The man, Peter J Anderson, raved to a local newspaper how thrilled he was to get the album back. He said:

"This has taken me on such a nostalgia trip. I'd forgotten all about it… it must have been 10 or even 12 years ago that I sent it to him."

As for George, he's just happy he was able to get in contact with the guy. He posted on his Twitter, "It's brilliant that it got to him after all these years. Better late than never!"

That's for sure! So nice!

Boy George Says Culture Club Reunion On The Way!

Filed under: Music Minute > Boy George

It's really going to be a happy new year come 2012 for all you Culture Club fans!

In honor of the band's 30th anniversary, Boy George has confirmed that the whole gang Roy Hay, Mikey Craig, Jon Moss and Sam Baker will get back together, eight years after they've split. George sounds pretty excited about the reunion, especially since it's happening before he gets too old! He explains:

"We're definitely doing it, yeah, yeah, in 2012. Our D-Day is April 30, which is the same day as our first ever single release, White Boy, and yeah, we're doing it, it's going to be great fun…If we don't do it now we'll do it when we're 60, which will be really tragic. In fact, when I do this tour next year I will be 50 officially, because I'm 50 on the 14 of June - in eight months time!"

Excellent!

Though George wouldn't offer anymore deets, it's thought that the band will be hitting the studio early next year to begin a new album and a comeback tour is also in the works!

We're excited! How about you?!

Boy George has declared he will no longer be talking shit!

About anyone!

"My days of slagging people off are over," tells George. "I'm very conscious now that if I'm going to say something, it's going to be something useful."

The former Culture Club frontman admits he has "a little bit of a history of opening [his] mouth before [he] thinks," but he's over trashing others!

We'll see how well his newfound mantra works out for him as time goes on!
