We had a lovely chat about everything from his most recent troubles to Madonna, Matt Lucas, the Spice Girls, Mika, Pete Burns, David Bowie and more. Oh, and George even played us a snippet of the new song he wrote inspired by Barack Obama - complete with lip synching and some choreography! It was a jolly good time. There's no hope. The U.S. won't budge and has totally denied Boy George's appeal of the country's decision to to deny his work visa request to enter. As a result, the singer's summer tour has just been postponed until next year! In a statement, George said:
How politically correct! B.G. will soldier on with a South American tour in September and a 25-date tour across the UK in October of this year. The singer’s North American dates will be rescheduled for Winter 2009. Hope he'll have more luck with the U.S. Visa folks in '09! Looks like the tour may not go on! According to Paper magazine, U.S. customs has denied Boy George's visa into the country. Sadly, BG will probably miss the NYC's Department of Sanitation's Family Picnic as well! BG says, "I'm pretty devastated because I am so excited about this forthcoming tour and having my visa application denied seems unfair after I swept the streets of New York spotless. There are a number of public figures who are openly using drugs and they have no problem with immigration and I have seriously turned my life around and I feel great right now and this is just another reminder of how bad things were. I committed a crime and I happily paid the consequences and I should be allowed to move on and get on with what I do best and that is performing and making people people dance and cry!" Let this be a lesson…keep your noses clean, kids! Boy George also reveals that he's been incredibly inspired by presidential candidate Barack Obama. He told the mag, "I was deeply moved and motivated by Obama's 'Yes We Can' speech and I used it as a metaphor for personal change because there have been huge changes in my own life this past year. 'Yes We Can' equates as 'Yes I Can' from my own personal perspective and like many people I am excited by the prospect of Obama being the first black man in the White House and the next President of America. Most politicians fail to live up to the huge expectations we have for them but Obama exudes a sense of calm and after the stutterings of George Bush I feel he is just what America needs. I'm not too concerned about alienating Republicans because I'm pretty sure my audience is mostly Democratic!" Will any Dems step up to the plate and help BG sort his visa issues out? Fun news for New York City's Department of Sanitation's peeps! Boy George will be performing at your Family Day on August 17th. Two years after sweeping the city streets as part of community service, BG has decided to perform a free concert for his former co-workers. He says, "The people I worked alongside showed great kindness to me at a very difficult time, and I wanted to thank them all in a way that would show my appreciation." The man also known as George O'Dowd was ordered to work for the department after pleading guilty to falsely reporting a burglary at his lower Manhattan apartment. The police officers who responded there found cocaine. We're sure it wasn't his. Sniff. Sniff. [Image via Mavrix Online.] Permalink / 46 comments (RSS) / Forward this post » Comin' Back At You!

Hiring an escort and then imprisoning him! Who to believe: A former druggie or a paid whore???? Permalink / 38 comments (RSS) / Forward this post » The Walk Of Shame
Boy George hastily exited the Thames Magistrates Court in London on Friday. The former singer turned DJ appeared on a charge of false imprisonment of a 28-year-old male escort by chaining him to a wall. Yes, really. George spoke during the minute-long hearing only to confirm his name and date of birth. How come Amy Winehouse's husband can't remain free on a seemingly less severe charge (witness tampering) but Boy can roam loose?
