Remember when we told you that Clay Aiken was getting his own TV show?
Well, that time has come!
Esquire Network is ready to air their TV series about the former American Idol star, as he made a run at joining congress.
Academy Award-winner Simon Chinn produced the four-hour original docu-series, titled
Clay Aiken is coming back to the small screen!
Clay, who unsuccessfully ran for a seat congress, had Esquire Network document his exciting campaign for a four-hour series.
Oh, we just CAN'T wait to see the behind-the-scenes footage of Clay conducting strategy meetings, prepping for debates, and canvassing door-to-door!
The former American Idol runner-up ran as a gay Democrat and lost against incumbent Congresswoman Renee Ellmers.
Though it's a bummer Clay lost, we're so excited the single dad embarked on the campaign trail!!
Aw, poor Clay Aiken.
After a hard-fought race to represent North Carolina's second district, Clay has failed to unseat Renee Elmers.
With roughly 44 percent of the vote compared to the incumbent's 56 percent, Clay could never quite build up the momentum he needed in the largely Republican state.
And to add ignominy to injury, Clay's campaign bus even broke down on Tuesday morning!
We can't think of anything more heartbreakingly symbolic than that!
Oh well! We're proud of you for running a courageous race and trying to make a positive change! For that we say congratulations, Clay.

No one told Clay Aiken running for Congress would be easy. And if they did, he should probably fire them from his campaign.
The former American Idol star participated in his first political debate on Monday night, and it was a slugfest!
Clay's opponent, Republican Renee Elmers, took jab after jab at Clay, mostly related to his career as an entertainer.
She even blamed him for the economy, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense given that she's the incumbent and he hasn't actually served in Congress at all yet.
This isn't the first time Renee has taken potshots at him, including making fun of him for
Congrats to Clay Aiken!
Fast forward to three months later and he's won it!
Despite the tragic lost of his opponent, Keith Crisco, Clay got more than 40 percent needed to win in the race.
But don't celebrate just yet! The official result will be announced by the state elections board after the meeting to review the results that is tentatively scheduled for May 22nd!
It was a close race, with Keith coming in second place. But his campaign manager, Christine Botta revealed that Keith had decided to concede his loss to the 35-year-old before he died.

We admit, we were hoping Clay Aiken would win the democratic ticket in North Carolina’s 2nd District — but not like this!
The American Idol alum will most likely be victorious after his opponent Keith Crisco suddenly died today!
According to local reports, Crisco suffered a fall in his home in Asheboro, NC. He was 71 years old.
Clay offered his condolences to Mr. Crisco’s friends and relatives, saying:
Clay Aiken has officially entered his bid for congress, y'all!
On Wednesday, Clay announced his Democratic plans to unseat second-term Rep. Renee Ellmers in a predominantly Republican district in North Carolina.
This is way harder to snag than AI's ticket to Hollywood, people!
In the video revealing his campaign launch, Clay candidly explained his tough childhood - and expressed how he can relate to people during this difficult economic time:
"For most Americans, there are no golden tickets — at least not like the kind you see on TV. More folks are struggling today than at any time in our history, and here in North Carolina, we've got more than our share of pain."
We can't wait to see how he uses this political platform!
Ch-ch-check out the heartfelt vid that announces his bid…AFTER THE JUMP!!!
