Eliza Dushku Reveals Why She Never Got Her Own Buffy Spin-Off

When Sarah Michelle Gellar hung up her stake seven years ago, there were a whirlwind of rumors about how the franchise might live on with out its blondie beauty.

The most intriguing of the rumors was that Eliza Dushku would reprise her role as the twisted sister slayer Faith in her own spin-off series. That never came to be and a lot of fans were pretty disappointed.

Now, Eliza explains why the show never happened in a new interview, blaming timing and her gut for the demise of the show. She reveals:

“After I finished the show, I’d withdrawn from school and followed up with a couple of films like "Bring It On", but I’d had such an awesome experience working with Joss I was ready to go down that road again. So I met with Joss and Tim Minear and spoke about the potential for a Faith spin-off. But Buffy had just gone on seven years and Joss was really straightforward: he couldn’t play the kind of day-to-day role he had on Buffy – he had his family. I love Tim Minear, I trust him wholeheartedly and it wasn’t that I felt without Joss it wasn’t right, but it was a contributing factor. On top of it, I had just played this character for almost five years, it felt like time to explore a different role. So I ended up making a decision that, though looking back I don’t regret, in hindsight maybe the talks could have continued a bit longer. It’s a question I’ve been asked a gazillion times: ‘Why’d you do Tru Calling and not the Faith spin-off?’ Thing is, even Joss was part of helping me make that decision. He said: ‘I think you have to follow your gut, which is trying something different, and we’ll stay friends so this isn’t goodbye, this is until next time.’”

Yeah, next time didn't work as well as you thought it might have. Should have stuck with doing a Faith spin-off. People would have really liked that.

Course, if someone could kick some sense into the Buffster and get a movie underway, we'd consider that an apology!

This isn't exactly what we'd consider a romantic day out for two, but we think they are seriously awesome!!

The baddest vampire slayer of them all, Eliza Dusku, and her boyfriend, Rick Fox, gave new meaning to the word 'hardcore' and competed together in the third annual Nautica South Beach Triathlon yesterday in Miami.

The proceeds went to St. Jude's Children Hospital.

It must take some serious dedication and commitment to train for a triathlon, so congratulations, you two!!

Let's Make A Movie Like It's 1999!

atrio.jpg

Seriously, who did the casting for this thing? Do they know that Y2K already happened?

Sources have confirmed the cast for a new horror thriller called Zoe that reads like the Wednesday night line-up on The WB!

The flick will star Freddie Prinze Jr. and James Van Der Beek as two brothers who live in a small New England town and both fall in love with the same girl, played by Eliza Dushku.

We don't know much else about the plot, but we imagine that Sarah Michelle Gellar will pop up to kill a vampire, but then get killed by Katie Holmes in a Scream mask, who will then declare her love for Dawson James, only to end up with his best friend at the end of the film, even though he is the central character.

Or something like that.

Sound like something u would want to see?

Buffy Lives On In The Web!

buffycom__opt.jpg

As we mentioned, though any plans to get the original Scooby Gang back on the big screen have yet to come through, creator Joss Whedon still plans to keep the series alive through an animated series.

Now, we have some more details, including the casting notice for some brand new characters. Since his new series, Dollhouse, has officially been cancelled, Joss is turning his attention to a series of motion-comic webisodes based on the popular Buffy Season Eight comic books.

So far, we gather the series won't exactly center around the famed blonde vampire slayer herself, but rather the new characters developed within the comic books, including the big bad villain called Twilight (not be confused with the rival vampire franchise) and the evil Slayer Lady Genevieve Savidge, who wants to take Buffy down.

There are some more familiar characters being brought into the mix as well, including Robin Wood, Kennedy, and Faith. Hey, we bet Eliza Dushku wouldn't mind some work!

Sounds like it might be a fun pet project for Joss, but it certainly doesn't live up to the thrill of Sarah Michelle Gellar stepping back into the role.

What do U think?

New Game…For Canceled Show!

The Joss Whedon superfans are going to get excited over this one!

Even though Dollhouse recently got the axe, there will be a new Web-based alternate reality game based on the show.

There will be two websites based on different elements in the show. The first being a website for the Rossum Corporation, the company behind the Dollhouses, and another created by the Rossum Corporation's opposition called "Ditch the Tech." There are also indications that other websites in the game could be on the way in the future.

We don't really know what any of this means, but it sounds kinda cool!

Will U be exploring the Dollverse online after it leaves the airwaves?

Dollhouse Canceled!

Filed under: TV News > Eliza Dushku

We guess it doesn't matter how smokin' hot Eliza Dushku is! The ratings sucked and that's that!

Fox has given Joss Whedon's Dollhouse the axe after getting a second season by the skin of its teeth due to its cult following. They're expected to finish the 13 episode order and Whedon wants to go out with a bang giving the show a real grand finale.

All produced episodes of Dollhouse will begin airing on December 4th.

That's too bad, but we're sure Eliza will find another job - even if it's just doing covers on FHM and Maxim! We kid. We kid.
