And well, it got really awkward super fast!
This fall, Ellen Page is set to portray a gay character on screen for the first time since coming out as a lesbian in early 2014!
The 28-year-old will play opposite Julianne Moore in the upcoming drama Freehold, where the two actresses will play a lesbian couple who fight for domestic partner rights after one of them is diagnosed with cancer.
While the Juno star loved playing the role of Stacie Andree, she admits that she's not a fan of the dramatic reception that comes with playing an LGBTQ character.
Julianne Moore is putting her foot down!
Recently, the actress — along with friend and producer Bruce Cohen — created a change.org petition to rename their alma mater — J.E.B. Stuart High School — in Fairfax County, VA.
The school — founded in 1959 — was named after the Confederate general who fought to keep African Americans enslaved.
According to their petition, which has already racked up over 29,000 signatures:
"No one should have to apologize for the name of the public high school you attended and the history of racism it represents, as we and so many alumni of Stuart have felt the need to do our whole lives."
The moniker is only made worse by the school's symbol: an image of Stuart waving the Confederate flag atop a horse.
Instead, the Oscar winner believes her education center should be named after civil rights leader and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.
In a statement, she exclaimed:
Jeff Goldblum, yasssss!

Get ready for Jurassic World's premiere on June 12 the best way we know how.

Um… we guess Boogie Nights still hasn't come out in Turkey yet?
Apparently, the promotional film was supposed to feature the 54-year-old actress on an airplane, reliving fond childhood memories of a trip to Turkey. The film was shot last year and was expected to air in Turkey in February 2014.
But reportedly, Turkeys' Culture and Tourism Ministry was less than impressed by the actress's performance and demanded a
Richard Glatzer, who co-wrote and directed the Oscar-winning movie Still Alice alongside his husband, Wash Wesmoreland, has passed away at the age of 63 from a four-year battle with ALS.
This heartbreaking news comes not even a month after Julianne Moore took home an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film, playing a woman with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
The late scribe and his husband were signed to adapt the script from Lisa Genova's novel Still Alice back in 2011, right after Richard was diagnosed with ALS. But even though the illness progressed rapidly, he never missed a day on set!
Westmoreland, who has been married to Glatzer since 2013, is "devastated" by his husband's passing:
Julianne Moore is NOT a fan of the mani cam.
If y'all don't remember, Julianne awkwardly yet politely turned down E!'s controversial mani-cam on the January 25 SAG Awards red carpet, a move she still stands by today.
The actress revealed in the new issue of Harper's Bazaar:
