When Avril "Hack" Lavigne was sued by 70's band The Rubinoos for allegedly stealing the hook to one of their old tunes, she fired back by claiming that she had never even heard the song. How is she going to explain this one???? Lavigne's songwriting "abilities" - or lack thereof - have been questioned by her former collaborators, from The Matrix to Chantal Kreviazuk. As PerezHilton.com pointed out earlier, a good portion of Avril's song I Don't Have To Try off her new album sounds almost identical to the song I'm The Kinda by electro-pop-punk princess Peaches - off her brazilliant 2003 album Fatherfucker. Lavigne won't be able to say she doesn't know who Peaches is! The July issue of InStyle magazine features a section on "What Rocks Their Worlds." Seven music celebs pick their top 5 favorite, MOST INFLUENTIAL songs. Well, guess what's number one on Avril's list on p 137 (see the scan above)? Yup, Peaches! And she name-checks I'm The Kinda!!!! Guess Avril was really influenced by Peaches. A LOT!!!!!! Permalink / 194 comments (RSS) / Forward this post » Avril Does It Again!!!!
The alleged song thief does it again! We try to avoid her "music" as much as possible, so we didn't catch on to this until it was just pointed out to us. It has been brought to our attention by an astute reader that the beginning of Avril Lavigne's song I Don't Have To Try - off her new album The Best Damn Thing sounds IDENTICAL to I'm The Kinda by a true Canadian artist, Peaches - off her album Fatherfucker. The first 20 seconds of Avril's song are a carbon copy - musically and thematically - of the Peaches track. We don't care enough about Avril to make a side-by-side comparison. If somebody gets around to doing this….let us know! Update: Click here to listen to the song comparisons. Thanks Jamie! Left to right: Your friend, Perez Hilton, with Peaches, Larry Tee and Princess Superstar. "If it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger!" That was Perez's yearbook quote in his senior year of high school, and it is ringing especially true this week. Feeling overwhelmed by our temporary technical difficulties and other roadblocks, we left our apartment in New York City on Wednesday night for a little soul recharging. We met up with our pals Larry Tee and Princess Superstar and went to see the one and only Peaches in concert at the Highline Ballroom. It did the trick! Fuck being depressed! Fuck the pain away! Try as they may, can't nobody hold us down. Thanks for sticking with us and putting up with all the bullshiz. Truly. Deeply. Thank you! Permalink / Comments Off (RSS) / Forward this post » |
