The Walking Dead Producers Cancel TCA Press Panel Appearance To Attend Stuntman John Bernecker's Funeral

Putting honor before promotion.

The Walking Dead producers have canceled their upcoming press tour panel at the Television Critics Association to attend the funeral of stuntman John Bernecker, who died in an on-set accident last month.

Showrunner Scott Gimple was expected to attend the bi-annual press event on Saturday alongside executive producers Gale Anne Hurd, Robert Kirkman, Dave Alpert, and Greg Nicotero.

But producers have decided to skip out on the event as it would conflict with the 33-year-old's funeral service, AMC said in a statement on Thursday.

As we previously reported, Bernecker was filming a stunt for Season 8 in July which required him to fall over 20 feet off of a balcony onto a safety pad.

According to assistant director Matthew Goodwin, Bernecker failed to get a "good separation" from the balcony and missed the safety cushion, instead landing on his head and neck on the concrete.

Bernecker was airlifted to an Atlanta medical center and was placed on a ventilator, which his family opted to turn off the next day.

AMC shut down production on Season 8 for a week following Bernecker's death. The hit series returns on October 22.

Growing up in the zombie apocalypse isn't exactly easy street

Just ask Chandler Riggs, who just had his very own episode of The Walking Dead on Sunday night!

As you may already be aware, following those two MAJOR fan-favorite deaths at the start of Season 7… similar rumors began surrounding Carl himself when news of his 17-year-old actor's IRL acceptance to college was made public knowledge.

Well, after he survived his failed ambush against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) over the weekend, the fan theory he was about to be killed off looked a lot less likely.

When she's not fighting off flesh-eating zombies on The Walking Dead, Alanna Masterson is battling even more vile creatures IRL: Internet trolls.

The actress made her kick-ass return to the AMC series in Sunday's episode, which focused primarily on her character Tara in her most action-packed episode yet.

While many were excited for Masterson's return, some of the less cognitively developed viewers couldn't help but comment on her weight — and by comment, we mean hurling out body-shaming insults on Twitter.

The 28-year-old started filming the current seventh season several months after giving birth to her daughter Marlowe, who recently turned 1 year old — and just like her onscreen alter-ego, she wasn't about to take sh*t from no petty haters!

On Tuesday, Masterson responded to the body-shamers in a lengthy Instagram post alongside a photo of her little girl, writing:
