Ron Artest Changes His Name To….

Metta World Peace

Los Angeles Laker Ronald William Artest, Jr. will soon be no more and you will NEVER guess what he wants to be called now.

The 31-year-old NBA player wants to change his name to…wait for it…wait for it….are you ready?

Metta World Peace!

LOL! Yes, that's no typo. Metta is a Buddhist term meaning loving-kindness and goodwill, so we're assuming his days of brawling on the court are far behind him and never coming back!

It's not official yet, but we hear a judge will consider his request on August 26. Ron Metta filed a petition in the L.A. County Superior Court AND wants his new last name "World Peace" on the back of his #37 jersey!

He hasn't filled out the NBA paperwork required to change the name on his jersey yet, but the Lakers are aware of the change, as a spokesman has said:

“My understanding is ‘Metta’ will be his first name and ‘World Peace’ will be his last."

Sure, it's a little random, but who doesn't want World Peace?

Meditation Is Great For Your Health

While ancient Tibetan Buddhists didn’t have access to modern medication, they did use a powerful tool that helped reduce stress and improve their immune system’s response to stress — a form of meditation called Lojong.

Lojong is a type of meditation that focuses on increasing compassion toward others.

"It tries to train people to rethink and reimagine their relationships with other people," said Dr. Charles Raison, who conducted the study on Lojong. "It's a series of visualizations and mental challenges where you use meditation to challenge why you feel the way you do about people."

"In its purest form, it's a way of practicing, of learning to become very thankful for your enemies because they help teach patience and caring," he said.

The study showed that the practice of Lojong decreased stress as well as the side-effects that go along with stress.

Alright, everyone, take a quick break from reading and go find your chi!
