Kellie Pickler Takes A Break With A Bag Of Chips During Dancing With The Stars Rehearsals!

kellie pickler munches on a bag of chips(1)

Ooh! We want some!!

Just because Kellie Pickler has been kicking butt during Dancing with the Stars' season 16 doesn't mean that she has to cut out salty snacks, so while she was at rehearsals yesterday, she chomped down on a bag of chips!

The country star was spotting taking a break outside of the Hollywood dance studio, and even though she was caught off guard, she still managed to give a high-five wave while she munched away.

We love that Kellie is enjoying her time on DWTS, and we hope that she continues to dazzle us with her awesomeness!!

New to the scene snack brand Popchips just snagged themselves one heck of a spokeslady!

Katy Perry will now be repping Popchips!

She has even invested in the company and become a creative partner.

She joins the likes of Ashton Kutcher as a celebrity endorser of the puffy chips.

Hopefully she won't be doing any potentially racist ads like Kutcher's "brown face" portrayal of an Indian man.

Katy's ads will be coming this fall so we'll see what she's got!

Frito-Lay To Certify Snacks 'Gluten-Free'

frito-lya-oign-g-gluten-free.jpg

Frito-Lay, one of the biggest names in snacks, launched an initiative that will have qualifying products receive a "gluten-free" label.

Lay's, Doritos, Ruffles, Tostitos and Sunchips plan to develop a gluten-free validation process that will allow them to use the gluten-free label.

The foods won't change or anything, they're just going to be tested to make sure they have the less than 20 parts per million of gluten that the FDA requires for something to be gluten-free.

They're joining other companies like Dominoes who recently unveiled a gluten-free crust for their pizzas!

This is all good for people with Celiac disease, which is a digestive disorder triggered by gluten that damages the lining of the small intestine.

Way to think about your consumers!

Love Chips? Here Are Some Healthier Choices

Chip Alternatives

We love chips. Who doesn't love chips? You'd have to be out of your mind not to love chips. Unfortunately, they're bad for us. Like everything else that's especially delicious.

The good news is, we've heard about 5 healthier alternatives to fill that void:

Apple Chips:

The might not be salty (though, you could salt them if you want), but baked apple chips are the BOMB when you just want that crispiness.

Not only that but they pack lots of vitamin C and outrageously good apple flavor!

Taro Chips:

This is a cousin of the potato. It's a starchy root-vegetable, with 30% less fat and way more fiber than potato chips. Also — Vitamin E. Boom.

Among our five taste testers, all but one liked them. "This is the chippiest chip," noted one taster. "It's very filling," said another. One critic found them bland, however, while the Healthland editor noted, "They taste like Baked Lay's" potato chips.

Sweet Potato Chips:

Vitamin A. Manganese. Salty/sweet flavor. Crunchy. Reduced fat.

Almost everyone loves sweet potato fries — so why not bake them into some chips instead? Easy enough!

Kale Chips:

They might be weird looking — they kinda look like dried seaweed — but they're surprisingly salty and delicious. The part that sucks is that they're kinda hard to find. And when you do, they're expensive.

So it's a good thing that they're easy to make, and most of the time they taste better that way anyway!

Plantain Chips:

Plantain chips are addictive, and unfortunately they're no better than potato chips if you buy them at the store.

So make them at home!

If you bake your own plantain chips at home, however, you can control how much oil you use and you can add spices to boost the flavor without the fat. (For a more healthful store-bought alternative to packaged plantain chips, try banana chips, which have less sugar and fewer calories.)

And there you guys go! Happy and healthy snacking!

Though, keep in mind that healthiness also involved moderation. Don't eat a ton of anything, basically, even if it is "healthier."
