Helen Gurley Brown, the former editor of Cosmo and bestselling author of Sex and the Single Girl, has gifted the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and Stanford’s School of Engineering a whopping $30 million.
The two schools set aside $24 million of the donation to be used to endow a professorship, and to award grants and fellowships. The joint program will be named after Brown and her late husband, David Brown, who attended both schools.
The remaining $6 million will be used to construct a state-of-the-art newsroom in the Columbia journalism school building.

From what we've seen, it looks like Jack The Giant Killer is going to be a cool movie, that's for sure. So it makes us happy that the writer of that flick has just been tapped to write the adaptation of a Goosebumps movie!
We were JUST talking about how there needs to be a Goosebumps movie!
Darren Lemke is his name, and he has quite the task ahead of him if they like his work… because Columbia picked up the rights to FIFTY of RL Stine's Goosebumps books in 2008!
Color us excited to finally see what they're going to do with one of these, and which book they choose first! Such classics!
Which do U want to see first??

That sexylicious former indy car driver, Danica Patrick, was looking absolutely stunning in Miami!
She was walking the blue carpet in celebration of the 50th anniversary of BeLive!
BeLive is a charity benefitting four Columbian non-profits, and the whole thing was held at the Ritz Carlton!
Sounds like a great and important evening!
Lookin' good, Danica!

That, dear friends, is what we are hearing.
According to reports, after 35 years at Warner Bros., Van Halen has left WB for Sony. An insider reveals that Columbia A&R executive Stephen Ferrera has been dubbed the task of overseeing the next Van Halen album, which will hopefully come out sometime in 2012 and in fact be the first album featuring David Lee Roth since 1984.
Another insider at the label points out that "nothing has been signed yet, but Columbia has been in the lead for some time.”
While we're stoked about the fellas making another album, we can't help but wonder what the WB did to them to make them want to leave after three and half decades together. It seems kind of odd, right?
