Boom! Another counterfeiter is ordered to pay up!

Coach has won a lawsuit against 573 websites that were selling counterfeit goods, and the sites were ordered to pay $257 million!

Since the websites are run illegally, Coach likely won’t see much of this money, but it’s the principles that made it a victory.

The judge ruled that the websites must be shut down, and

Cybersquatters just don't know when to stop!

A group of Chinese cybersquatters selling bootleg MAC products and cosmetics on more than 100 websites had the book thrown in a New York courtroom this week after not responding to a lawsuit filed by beauty company in April.

The cyber seller's silence made Judge Ronnie Abrams' job a lot easier, and automatically awarded MAC $90 million as well as a permanent injunction that will shut down the infringing sites.

Michael Kors Wins Against Counterfeit Websites!

And another cybersquatter bites the dust.

Michael Kors has emerged victorious in his counterfeit lawsuit against 35 websites selling infringing products with the brand's trademark!

Judge Shira Scheindlin (remember her?) awarded the designer $2.4 million, which is peanuts compared to UGG Australia and Burberry, but the important thing is that it’s another step to shutting down the counterfeiters!

Joseph Gioconda, the attorney representing this case and others like it, said of the legal win:

"Basically, as these cases have progressed, the defendants are consistently not cooperating with the courts. The courts have found that they are not participating in the process in any way. The damages award is largely a symbolic gesture… The more stuff counterfeiters can throw up on the Web, the harder it is for the brand owner. They have more resources, more people and more time. The brand owner is in a very difficult position. It gets to the point where they throw up their hands and want to give up, but they can’t do that."

We’re glad Mr. Kors refused to back down and won the battle, even if it's a relatively small one.

A good time was had by all on Black Friday, especially retailers.

Between in-store and internet sales on the Friday following Thanksgiving, sales were up as much as 25% compared to last year's dismal holiday season.

Macy's CEO Terry Lundgren said over 7,000 early bird shoppers lined up outside the department store in Herald Square on Friday morning, up 40% from 2009.

Disney also proved to be a big winner, boasting internet sales on the 26th was their "biggest day in history".

Dayum.

Online transaction site PayPal also reported a 25% increase in sales on Thursday and Friday, mostly from "gadgets and toys".

Sounds like there's going to be a lot of happy kids this year!
