Puppy mills are absolutely horrid, unforgivable and heinous…there's no ifs, ands, or buts about that.

The advances in technology have created online puppy mills, where commercial breeders can sell innocent puppies for profit, without caring for their welfare.

In a study done by 16 volunteers as well as investigators for nonprofit organization, International Fund for Animal Welfare, the team found nearly 750K ads DAILY on puppy buying websites as well as sites like Craigslist, eBay classifieds, and more.

Of these ads, 62 percent of puppy websites had dogs coming from mills.

The biggest culprit was

nyc-rats-population-after-hurricane-sandy-web.jpg

Hurricane Sandy is wrecking A LOT of shiz…in the human world and the animal world too.

The superstorm may force the evacuation of 12,000 marine animals at the NY Aquarium, pet food had to be recalled and WORST of all (not really) Alec Baldwin had to walk his dogs in the RAIN!

Now the rat population may be kaputz even though some believe the storm would bring on the Rat Apocalypse.

The UK's Exploding Dartmoor Ponies Go On The Pill

dartmoor-ponines-birth-control.jpg

The Dartmoor Pony is a wild horse that lives in south-western England and there's been a recent population explosion.

It is a semi-feral pony which means that they're basically wild horses but they have contact with humans and have learned to tolerate them whether it is occasional feeding, medical care or just crossed paths.

These ponies have been breeding like crazy recently with many of them ending up in sanctuaries or at the slaughterhouse.

So vets working with World Horse Welfare have partnered with the drug company Pfizer to bring contraceptive injections to the ponies.

Georgia River Reindeer Population Plummeting

reindeer-herd-isnt-large.jpg

The population of the Canadian Georgia River reindeer has dropped almost 92% over the last few decades.

There were once over 900,000 reindeer and now there are only about 74,000.

Iron-ore mining, hydro-power flooding and road building are apparently the cause of the dwindling numbers.

Chief of the local natives, the Innu people said:

"All the massive industrial 'development' projects that have been imposed on our land in the last forty years have undoubtedly had a cumulative impact on the size of the caribou herd.

That is why we need real control over our territories and resources, and why we must be involved as equals in decisions that affect our lands and the animals that live there."

So sad that people just living their lives don't even realize the effect they have on the local ecosystem, and how its devastation affects us.

Poor reindeers!

Also, poor Santa! Where will he go to hire more help??

Celebrate Ed Norton's B-Day By Helping Out Lions

Celebrate Ed Norton's B-Day

Happy D.O.B. Ed!!

Acclaimed actor Edward Norton just turned 42, but he doesn't want any birthday gifts!! That is… unless that gift is a donation to the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Fund.

In an article Ed wrote for the charity's website he says:

"I don't want anything. Well, that's not strictly true but I don't want any THINGS. Like stuff. Don't need it. Have too much.

Here's what would make me really happy about marking another year (and a few gray hairs): Support for this fantastic organization: the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust."

According to Ed, MWCT helps to preserve the Maasai people of Kenya’s ecosystem — and that some of the money we raise will be used to help lion population recover. AW! That's SO NICE!!

Ed's goal is to raise $10,000 for the charity. He's almost half way there!

Donate HERE to help Ed's Birthday wish come true!
