Ground Turkey Recall!!

Turkey

Put down that turkey burger! Not another bite!

Cargill Inc. has announced a recall of their ground turkey products after testing showed it to be positive for salmonella.

The recall is for 36 million pounds of ground turkey. This is the second recall in recent memory from the same plant.

The last recall stemmed from an outbreak which sickened 107 people in 31 states and even killed someone.

So sad.

The plant has stopped production and begun a disinfection and steam clean of all their machinery.

An spokesman from Cargill said:

"Food safety is a top priority and taken extremely seriously at Cargill because we know that millions of people throughout the U.S. are eating food that we produce every day and we want to do everything we can to make sure that people are getting the safest food possible.”

No illnesses have been reported yet (probably because you listened and put down your turkey burger) but it’s possible infected turkey is still out there.

Any ground turkey made at the Springdale plant, bearing the number “963” or “P-963” on the package, could be infected.

If U have a package with that number, call 1-888-812-1646 for instructions on what to do.

Government officials have said that even contaminated turkey is safe to eat if it’s cooked to 165 degrees. But please, don’t chance it.

And wash your hands… thoroughly.
