90 Year Old Skydiver!!

Wow!

We hope we're still this spry when we're his age!

Captain Lester Slate of Exeter gave a 90th birthday present to himself — his first skydiving jump from an airplane.

Here's what he said before the jump:

“I don’t think I’m going to get nervous. The Navy taught us how to use [parachutes] but they wouldn’t let us, unless it was an emergency.”

After the jump, they approached the ground, then landed safely, as his family clapped.

He said:

“It’s my land legs I’ve got to get back!"

LOLz!

He even said he'd love to do it again in a few years:

“When I get to be 95, or maybe 100."

AMAZEBALLZ!

Check out the video (above)!

It's like he's just floating right out of our dreams and into reality! Ha!

We wouldn't be surprised if he could sing while doing this too!

Give us a call next time, Matthew! We'll go with you!!

Video Footage Documents Man Surviving Skydiving Accident

OMG!

Words can not express how terribly we feel for this skydiver who unknowingly filmed the accident which started his life as a quadriplegic.

During a routine jump amongst experienced friends, the man filming (identified as Tim in the footage) collides with a friend at 2,500 feet in the sky and tangles his parachute.

Unable to properly maneuver the mangled "ball of nylon", Tim plummets to the ground and breaks his pelvis, back and neck as he lands in a cornfield.

He not only details his traumatic experience on his YouTube page, but shares it took him four-and-a-half years to watch the harrowing footage, writing:

"As I lay waiting for help, spinal shock begins to set in paralyzing my diaphragm and breathing on my own becomes impossible. Rescue breathing is performed as I lose consciousness. Paramedics arrive and I'm med-flighted to UW Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin where I awake days later after surgery and begin life as a quadriplegic. It's taken me four and a half years to be able to watch this video."

The actual impact is (thankfully) cut from the video, but what remains is an inspirational display of courage.

His friends come to his aid and Tim (even after suffering life-threatening injuries) calmly instructs them how to properly care for him to ensure his survival until paramedics arrive.

Watch the jaw-dropping video above to see a man bravely face the reality of his awful situation as he fights for his life.

Tim, if you're reading this, you are our hero!

Travel Channel's Anthony Bourdain Wants To Go Skydiving For Charity

Anthony Bourdain skydiving charity event

Wow! We don't think we've ever heard of a more fun way to raise money for those in need this holiday season!

After hearing that food banks across the nation were running low on supplies during a time when they need them most, celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain is jumping at the chance to help. Literally!

The Travel Channel star is offering one lucky fan willing to donate $10,000 to the Food Bank For New York City a chance to go skydiving with him!

It didn't take long for a generous and equally thrill-seeking soul to jump at the opportunity to plummet through the sky with Bourdain because the package is already sold out!

The once-in-a-lifetime experience includes a skydiving trip with the chef on your choice of date, followed by burgers and beers at his favorite New Jersey restaurant, Hiram’s.

The sold-out package benefits the NYC hunger-relief organization, which will be using the money to feed the 3 million New Yorkers who can't afford daily meals throughout the city's five boroughs this December.

Click here to check out the details and get on the waitlist! Who knows? Maybe he'll be willing to do a few more jumps in the name of charity!

Disability Prevents Quadriplegic From Opening Chute During Skydiving Death

Parachute death

So tragic!

Zack Fogle of Kingston, Washington plunged 18,000 feet and 120 MPH to his death in Salmon, Idaho on Saturday.

The 27-year-old was a veteran skydiver, but was also a quadriplegic since an unfortunate auto accident in high school.

An examination of video and statements made by witnesses have revealed that there were no malfunctions with his equipment, but instead his disability prevented him from being able to deploy the main chute.

While there were rumors of suicide, Flathead County Undersheriff Jordan White dismissed the notion, saying:

"Zack died with another jump pass in his pocket. He was living his dream. His was an incredible story of his drive to live and to excel in this sport despite being disabled from an (automobile) accident when he was a junior in high school."

Ugh! Such a sad story and we're so sorry to hear about it! Our hearts go out to the Fogle family for their loss and wish that Zack rests in peace!
