Almost one million jars of peanut butter are being dumped in a New Mexico landfill.
That’s 25 tons of PB.
Even though the PB was extensively tested and found to be safe and edible, Costco is all “nope!” They claims they can’t use the PB because of “leaky peanut oil.”
That’s lame!
The factory that made the PB, using $2.8 million dollars worth of Valencia peanuts, had a salmonella scare in the past and wasn’t doing well and ended up shutting down after filing for bankruptcy.
People have been begging them to donate the PB or to send it to prisons, but Costco just won’t let it happen!
So now it’s being sent to New Mexico to be buried in the Curry County landfill in Clovis.
That’s so ridiculously wasteful! We hope there’s some sort of consequences for Costco!
