Famous '80s Movie Couple Hooked Up IRL! She Reveals Everything In New Tell-All!

If you love ’80s movies, this story is going to knock your slouch socks off!

Say Anything was one of the most famous romantic comedies of the ’80s — and really put Cameron Crowe on the map as a filmmaker to watch. Part of the magic of the movie, though, was the undeniable chemistry between young stars John Cusack and Ione Skye.

There were questions for years about whether they’d had a showmance, hooked up on set, all that. They’ve always deflected, said they just had crushes on one another IRL… But there was one more part of that story they never told!

Well, Ione is spilling now in a memoir she’s titled Say Everything! In her tell-all, out Tuesday, she reveals she and John Cusack DID have sex! Only, it was way, way later!

After her divorce from her first husband, Adam Horovitz — aka Ad-Rock from The Beastie Boys — she decided to go back and get that Lloyd Dobler D! She writes:

“I had to get it out of my system.”

Ha! The divorce was in 2000, so this would have been Serendipity era Cusack. Ooh, that’s good vintage Cusack.

Apparently it wasn’t some grand, passionate explosion in the end though. She told People she’d let John read a draft of the book in advance, and he wasn’t happy about how she’d portrayed their night together, telling her:

“You made the experience sound so meh! It wasn’t ‘meh’ for me.”

She responded:

“I was like, ‘I’m telling a story, and it was more about how all of our chemistry was in our working together and stimulating each other’s minds, not sleeping together!’ I felt a little bad, but, oh well.”

Hey, sometimes the magic of chemistry is all in the desire — and once you get that payoff, it’s never the same. Just look at all the difference between about-to-cheat Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr. & Mrs. Smith versus married Brangelina in By The Sea. Just sayin’.
