Florence Pugh is opening up about a traumatic on-camera moment.
The Midsommar star sat down with British Vogue for an interview published on Wednesday and spoke in depth about her new film with Andrew Garfield, We Live In Time…
Specifically, she opened up about THAT moment in the trailer where The Amazing Spider-Man star shaves her head! See (below):

Talk about a dramatic do-over!
In the film, Florence plays a chef who falls in love with Andrew’s character. However, the pair’s world gets shaken up when she’s diagnosed with a medical condition, leading her to shave her head. The 28-year-old actress told the publication:
“I’m so glad I get to talk about it now. For any actor taking a role like this, it is completely important that you see her head and we see her shaving it — it was just always a no-brainer. You have the honor of doing something to yourself that is totally in support of the character.”

Maybe so, but that was a BIG adjustment for her in real life! She told the outlet:
“In many religions, hair is the most precious thing on the body — it’s where you store your memories and your dreams and your history. [Shaving] it was really bizarre. My head was so sensitive and so many people were trying to touch it and it was so alive.”
Yeah, we can imagine that’d come with quite the learning curve after having a luscious head of hair your whole life! Even more so than you might expect, because she admitted:
“My body went into a bit of trauma from it. I was cold all the time.”
Wow!
But it sounds like she was ultimately happy with the decision as it reflected a change she was going through in her personal life, too:
“I was going through so many [aesthetic] iterations when I was also going through life decisions. I was like, ‘Cool, well I don’t look like me. I’m changed. I’m changing.’ Looking back on that summer, I was growing into a new thing.”
We love her energy!
As for her co-star who was entrusted with clipping her gorgeous locks, though, the pressure was on. Andrew admitted he felt quite nervous while buzzing Florence’s hair. He recalled thinking:
“What if I somehow destroyed the head of one of the best actors of her generation? It was terrifying, but ultimately it was a very beautiful, intimate scene to shoot and thank God she has such a nicely shaped melon.”
Ha!
He added:
“It was a privilege to be given that job.”
