Ariana Grande is feeling very triggered following her scary incident in Singapore this week…
On Thursday, the pop star was at the premiere of Wicked: For Good in the country when a fan all of a sudden hopped the barrier, charged toward her, and wrapped his arm around her without permission on the yellow carpet. Ari’s co-star, Cynthia Erivo, who was walking hand-in-hand with her, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum, immediately stepped in and removed the guy’s arms before shoving him away. Watch the terrifying incident unfold (below):

OMG! Poor Ariana! The fan later identified himself as Johnson Wen, AKA “Pyjama Man,” who is known for charging celebrities, including Katy Perry and the Weeknd. He has since been charged with being a public nuisance. According to the BBC, Johnson will plead guilty and face a fine of up to $1540.
Thankfully, no one was harmed during the incident, and he will not get away with what he did. However, mentally and emotionally is a different story. A source told Dailymail.com on Thursday that the ambush triggered Ariana’s PTSD, which she developed following the horrific bombing that occurred at her Manchester concert in May 2017.
As you may recall, the terrorist attack killed 22 of her fans and injured over a thousand. Although Ariana came out of the tragedy unscathed physically, what happened haunts her always. Since the bombing, the insider shared that the Victorious alum “has never been the same.” Oof. And that is why when Johnson charged at her, she was left feeling incredibly triggered afterward. The insider explained:
“Ariana has been trying to soothe herself because her mind automatically jumps to the darkest possibilities. When someone suddenly approaches or charges at her, it triggers her… almost like PTSD, as her mind immediately goes to the worst-case scenario.”
Heartbreaking…
Following the bombing, the source noted Ariana “wanted to quit everything and become a hermit,” adding that “she still has panic attacks.” They continued that while the actress “never wants to take the focus away from everyone who died in Manchester, she was a victim too, and deals with the aftermath of it every single day.” And Ari reportedly believes that “if someone was willing to attack an entire arena she was in, then they’re capable of doing anything.”
Sadly, you never know what can happen these days. It’s better to be safe than sorry. A second source close to Ariana pointed out that this is why she “tries to avoid being in predicaments where she feels threatened or in harm’s way, because it is not good for her mental health to swim in those waters.” The Break Free artist also now plans to ramp up her security while on her promotional tour for the new Wicked movie. The insider said she is “taking the precautions needed… because the quicker she can put this in the back of her mind, the better.” Whatever she needs to do to put her mind at ease…
We’re sending Ari so much love! Hopefully, the rest of her promo tour for Wicked goes smoothly! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Tell us in the comments.
