Adele
Back in 2012, Adele told Anderson Cooper that she was living in a haunted estate! The 10-bedroom, $7.4 million home was located in West Sussex and nicknamed the Lock House. She said it was “all quiet scary, really,” and reports even claimed she was so unnerved that she hired a female bodyguard to keep watch after hearing strange noises around the residence.
Whether or not the place was really crawling with ghosts, the Rolling in the Deep artist’s candid remarks supposedly tanked the value of the home! Planning documents obtained by The Times stated that the current owner blasted Adele’s remarks as having “negatively impacted future marketing efforts and continues to affect the property’s reputation to this day.” Damn!
At the time, the property had been on the market for 14 years and only had one offer in August 2020, but the deal fell through when the buyer learned “about the property’s supposed haunted status, which was publicly mentioned by Adele during her tenancy.” The owner was attempting to turn the place into apartments.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus had such a spooky encounter with ghosts at a London apartment that she had to move!
The incident happened while she was touring Europe in 2009. She told Elle UK:
“It was seriously so terrifying. It used to be an old bakery and they turned it into an apartment building, and I was having really crazy dreams and really scary things, and one night my little sister — it sounds crazy to tell you — but she was standing in the shower and all of a sudden I hear her scream. I run in there and the water had somehow flipped to hot but it was still… It wasn’t like the water had just changed, the knob had turned but she hadn’t turned it and it was burning her. She was really red.”
Yikes!
Miley was also pestered another time by ghosts:
“Before I felt this, I thought I had seen a little boy sitting on the sink watching me take a shower so I felt really freaked out. I was sitting there the next night and maybe I’m crazy, but I could have sworn I could see this little boy sitting there on the sink, kicking his feet.”
OMG! Call him Casper the Overly Friendly Ghost!
Miley’s mom, aunt, and her then-fiancé Liam Hemsworth all had “crazy experiences” in the apartment and she ultimately decided to move out.
Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez one claimed she had an app that told her when ghosts where around — and they even communicated to her via it!
She said this in 2015 on The Tonight Show, dishing:
“I believe in ghosts, so I have a ghost app … I believe that spirits can tap into technology. Why not, right?”
The former child star then shared that the app had detected spiritual beings around her before:
“Look, I was in a venue, and it actually said people in my life by name.”
Creepy! We wonder what app that was??
Ariana Grande
Ariana Grande visited a gate to Hell! It’s really called Stull Cemetery in Kansas, known as “one of the seven gates to Hell on Earth.” And she really felt a demonic presence! She told Complex:
“I felt this sick, overwhelming feeling of negativity over the whole car and we smelled sulfur, which is the sign of a demon, and there was a fly in the car randomly, which is another sign of a demon.”
Noticing something was off, she apologized for disrupting the cemetery’s peace and left. Aw. At least she was respectful!
Anna Nicole Smith
The late Anna Nicole Smith had a truly shocking story to tell about her sexual (yes, we said that!) experience with a ghost! The actress told FHM in 2004:
“A ghost would crawl up my leg and have sex with me at an apartment a long time ago in Texas. I used to think it was my boyfriend, and one day I woke up and it wasn’t. It was, like, a spirit and it–woo! [miming a ghost flying from her bedsheets]–went up! I was freaked out about it, but then I was, like, ‘Well, you know what? He’s never hurt me and he just gave me some amazing sex so I have no problem.’”
When asked if she was simply dreaming, Anna insisted:
“It was not a dream because it was happening every night… I told my boyfriend and he didn’t believe me. Of course… MEN!”
Jenna Bush Hager
When you’re growing up in one of the most historic buildings in the country, you’re bound to get a blast from the past — literally!
Jenna Bush Hager was sent back to the 1920s when she was younger and living at the White House. She said in a 2009 episode of The Tonight Show:
“I heard a ghost. I was asleep, there was a fireplace in my room, and, all of a sudden, I heard 1920s music coming out. I could feel it. I freaked out and ran into my sister’s room. She was like, ‘Please go back to sleep. This is ridiculous.’ “
TBH, that one’s kinda cool!
Kesha
Kesha also believes she’s had a naughty encounter with a ghost, something that inspired her son Supernatural. In an episode of Conan, she doubled down:
“I did go to the bone zone with a ghost!”
When asked if it was a famous person from history, the singer added:
“I don’t know his name. He was in my house. He just started caressing me… It was a sexy time, it wasn’t, like, sex.”

Lily Collins
When fiction gets a little too close to reality! Lily Collins believes she was visited by ghosts of Ted Bundy‘s victims when she was preparing to film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, a movie in which she played one of the serial killer’s ex-girlfriend. She told The Guardian:
“I started being woken up by flashes of images, like the aftermath of a struggle. I didn’t feel scared — I felt supported. I felt like people were saying, ‘We’re here listening. We’re here to support. Thank you for telling the story.'”
Keanu Reeves
When he was just a kid, Keanu Reeves says he saw a ghost after recently moving to NYC. On a 2014 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, he explained:
“I’m probably six, seven years old, we’d come from probably Australia. Renata, nanny, in the bedroom, my sister is asleep, she’s sitting over there, I’m hanging out. There’s a doorway and all of a sudden this jacket comes waving through the doorway, this empty jacket — there’s no body, there’s no legs, it’s just there. And then it disappears.”
He didn’t freak out, though:
“I was a little kid and I thought, ‘Well, OK, that’s interesting,’ and I looked over at the nanny and she’s like this [makes horrified face]. And I’m like ‘Oh wow, so that was real.’”
Jessica Alba
In 2008, Jessica Alba told Us Weekly about a horrible memory from her childhood — which could either have been sleep paralysis or a spirit! She explained:
“I felt this pressure and I couldn’t get up, I couldn’t scream, I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t do anything. Something definitely took the covers off me and I definitely couldn’t get off the bed, and then, once I did, I screamed, ran to my parents’ room and I don’t think I spent many nights in that house ever again.”
She added:
“There was definitely something in my parents’ old house — I don’t know what it was. I can’t really explain it. But they got it blessed and they burned sage and stuff since then.”

Bella Thorne
Childhood is really the time to see ghosts, apparently! Bella Throne was also little when she had a paranormal run-in, she told Vulture in 2018:
“My family used to live on an Indian burial ground; our house was built on it. My mother and my father had so many f**king crazy experiences in that specific house. At night, she’d constantly hear noises, chains and shackles rattling around, stuff that couldn’t be the wind. All the time, every night. Eventually, we had to lit-er-ally move out of the house. I was really young at the time, but it got so bad that my parents could not be there anymore. There were a few weird times when my mom kept going up to our rooms because she heard loud-ass stomping. She thought it was my brother, marching around, but he told us it wasn’t. He kept saying, ‘It’s not me!’ until she made us all sleep in her room. We kept hearing it, too. It was really f**king creepy. Stomping, up and down the stairs, all night long. So of course there’s gotta be some kind of presence out there. I don’t know, but it’s something. It’s true that if you want to see what you want to see, if you’ve got an open-minded attitude, you’ll see something. But everyone heard this! We weren’t all delusional.”
She told the story to Astro Girl magazine, as well, adding more details:
“I went over to my closet because that’s where the sound seemed to be coming from. I saw the closet door swing open then shut on its own. When I looked inside, no one was in there! I thought it could’ve been the ghost of the woman who had lived here before us. My sister and I were in the attic one day when we found a lot of her belongings. Her name was Tamara. I think maybe her spirit didn’t like that we moved in. One night, I definitely saw her creep into my closet. I was lying in bed when I saw a shadowy, silvery figure of an old woman creeping across my room, then it slipped into my closet. I panicked and ran out of bed and swung open my closet door only to see she was in there. But she was gone. I was sure I had seen her ghost! It was really freaky.”
Matthew McConaughey
In 2009, while doing press for a movie ironically called Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Matthew McConaughey revealed he shared a home with a haunted spirit named Madame Bleu! And he was NOT going to be bullied around by her! He recalled:
“I was not even under the influence, and she was there. She wasn’t that happy. It didn’t seem like she was going to be much fun to hang around or have in my house, so I went ahead and stood my ground. I opened the door and said, ‘You can move around all you want, but I’m not going anywhere.’ For weeks, everyone that came to the house said the same thing: ‘There’s someone down in that hall, there’s somebody down in that hall.'”
Eventually, she stopped visiting and his guests grew to love her former favorite room!
Megan Fox
Hungry in her sleep? Or hearing voices? Megan Fox thinks she heard ghosts after a room service snafo at a hotel. She told MTV News in 2014:
“Fox recalled, “I was just in Mexico at my hotel, and it was a bedroom, living room, bedroom … I had pre-ordered breakfast for 7:30 and at 7 a.m. I hear them come in with the table. I hear them pouring the coffee. … 30 minutes later, at 7:30, I went in there: no table, no coffee, no food, no nothing, no one there. Doorbell rings. I open the door; it’s room service with my food.”
So, how can she be sure she wasn’t dreaming?
“Brandy, the nanny, comes out later and says, ‘Why did room service come at 7 when we told them to come at 7:30?’ So you can’t tell me I’m crazy because two people heard it.”
Alyson Hannigan
Alyson Hannigan revealed in a 2003 interview that she lived in a haunted house and “didn’t mind”! Wow! She explained:
“I have a ghost in my house. I saw him a couple of months ago. I don’t think he died there because there’s a law in L.A. that when you buy a house, if somebody’s died there they have to disclose that. And nobody did. So I don’t know why he’s there. But he’s very friendly.”
As for how she found out? She continued:
“My friend saw him first one night. She said, ‘I don’t mean to alarm you, but I just saw a man follow us out of the house.’ And I said, ‘Well, at least he’s gentlemanly, he let us go first.’ Later that night I saw this silhouette of a man standing in the bathroom doorway. I was like, ‘Sweetie, what are you doing?’ I thought it was Alexis [Denisof, her then-fiancé, now-husband].”
But…
“But then I looked and Alexis was asleep next to me. I’d love to get his name. I’m thinking of putting a little chalk board where I think he lives to see if he will write his name down.”
Truly one of the most chill ghost stories we’ve ever heard!
Britney Spears
Britney Spears supposedly saw a ghost — but she’s not actually the one telling this scary story. Her makeup artist from 1999 to 2004, Julianne Kaye, spoke on the We Need To Talk About Britney podcast, revealing what happened when the pop icon shared a mansion with Justin Timberlake:
“She had the place on Sunset Plaza. She calls me… I had my friend do reiki healing on her, he had come up, I guess she’d had a crazy partying weekend and needed to relax. He left, she swears to God that he opened some spirit portal or something, and these bad spirits had come in. And it was like a male and a female, and they were trying to, like, push her down the stairs, or something crazy.”
Julianne added:
“It was so bad that she left, she went to the Casa Del Mar hotel to stay there and never went back to the house. She goes, ‘I know you’re gonna think I’m crazy, I’m not crazy, I know what I saw, I know what I felt,’ blah blah blah. And I was like, no, I believe in that s**t, too, so it didn’t really weird me out that much. But she was very persistent about it and she put her house on the market.”
And then things took a very dark turn:
“And guess who bought that house? And died in it? Brittany Murphy. Brittany Murphy bought that house, and I thought, ‘f**king crazy!’ Cuz Brittany Murphy died in that house, her husband died in the house, it was like maybe the house is cursed, I don’t know.”
So eerie!!!!
