Danielle Fishel 'Did Not Think' Whitney Leavitt Would Win DWTS Despite Being 'One Of The Best Dancers'! Here's Why!

A former Dancing With The Stars contestant has a hot take about Whitney Leavitt!

On Tuesday night, the television personality and Mark Ballas got eliminated from the competition. It came as a shock to her fans. Even Zac Efron couldn’t believe it! She is arguably the best dancer and consistently topped the leaderboard for most of the season, so most of us thought she had a guaranteed spot in the finale! Heck, many even thought she would win the whole thing… except for Danielle Fishel! What!

After the live show on Tuesday, the actress revealed on her Danielle With… podcast that she “did not think” The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star would take home the grand prize! Danielle explained:

“Anybody who’s watched this show knows [that] being the best dancer or one of the best dancers on the show is never a guarantee that you’re gonna win. Am I’m surprised that Whitney isn’t in the finals? Yes, I’m surprised that Whitney isn’t in the finals. I thought she was going to make it to the final round. I did not think Whitney was going to win Dancing With the Stars, even though I think she’s one of the best dancers.”

Danielle did believe Whitney would make it into the finale. However, at the same time, she also felt her DWTS storyline played out:

“I will say that the way the package was set up and with the season premiere of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives coming out this week, it felt to me … if we look at reality TV as a storytelling mechanism [then] what makes the most compelling storytelling was for Whitney to go home tonight.”

Whitney’s rehearsal package and Season 3 confessionals on Mormon Wives revealed she only returned to MomTok for the opportunity to audition for DWTS. Some viewers didn’t like her comments and pushed for her to be eliminated this episode. Those folks ultimately got their wishes. But regardless of what they thought, Danielle saw it made sense for Whitney to go now. She continued:

“Her ambition to be on Dancing With the Stars [was] played out in the premiere episode, and for that to be shown in her package and talked about in the skybox, I thought the craziest storytelling is somebody being that honest about the things that they want and about their dreams and having no shame.”

The Boy Meets World alum noted the “most captivating TV” is to then see that person go home, so she knew in her gut it would happen:

“I had a bad feeling throughout the day that it might be Whitney’s time to go home, and I was hoping I was wrong — but I was not.”

Oof. It’s a shame. She deserved to make it to the end. Although Danielle didn’t think Whitney would win, she knows the social media personality is a fantastic dancer:

“She was just absolutely stunning. Whitney is one of the most beautiful dancers I have ever seen in 20 years of Dancing With the Stars. I just think she is spectacular. There’s no denying it. You cannot be a Whitney fan for whatever reason, [but] you can’t deny that she is an incredible dancer, and Mark has really pushed her.”

Perhaps she’ll get a second shot at the Mirrorball if DWTS ever does an All Stars season again! What do YOU think, Perezcious readers? Do you agree with Danielle? Did you also not see Whitney winning DWTS? Let us know in the comments!
