Savannah Guthrie is not giving up on her mother Nancy.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department might be scaling back investigation efforts now that we’re past the 100-day mark of the 84-year-old going missing, but the Today Show host isn’t giving up the fight.
Sources told Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack on Tuesday that Savannah is still investing heavily on a team of private investigators! She has private detectives, former federal agents, and security specialists working ’round the clock to hunt down leads and figure out what happened to her dear mother.

One source said:
“Savannah is paying whatever it takes to keep this search active. She refuses to rely solely on law enforcement.”
Can’t fault her for not trusting law enforcement! According to Sheriff Chris Nanos, she has no direct communication with his team anymore! He said the FBI has taken over communicating with the Guthrie family. And from day one, Nanos has been accused of making mistake after mistake in the case. All this has led Savannah to grow frustrated with the official investigation, according to friends, who noted she was especially upset after Nanos revealed he’s not talking to her family. Another insider detailed:
“That was incredibly upsetting for Savannah. She expected urgency and direct communication. Instead, she feels the investigation became distant and procedural.”
While she’s spending a huge amount of money on these private investigators, the journalist refuses to pull back her efforts right now, the source added:
“Money doesn’t matter to her right now. This is about finding her mother. If more investigators, more security, or more resources help, she’ll keep paying for them.”
And she’s determined to continue doing this for the foreseeable future:
“She still believes her mom can be found. That’s why the private investigators are still working every single day.”
We hope someone turns up some answers soon! We cannot imagine the emotional and financial toll this is taking on her family!
