Hold on a minute. Nancy Guthrie has been missing for three months, and we’re realizing something STARTLING! Why have the 911 calls made in her case not been released?!
As Perezcious readers know, Nancy was discovered missing on February 1. She’d spent the night before at her daughter Annie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni‘s home for dinner. They then dropped her off at home, and she entered through the garage. The next morning, when she failed to attend a church service, her friends alerted family, who rushed over to her home to discover she wasn’t there! The family — reportedly Annie — immediately contacted the police.

So, why then have we never heard that 911 call?? These kinds of calls are usually among the first pieces of evidence in a case that are made public!
The question was brought up in a live episode of Chris McDonough’s The Interview Room podcast last week, in which a caller wondered when we’d finally hear that call, and any others that may have taken place amid this case. But the answer isn’t what any of us want to hear!
Retired detective Bob Gilliam speculated:
“I don’t think we’re going to hear the 911 calls for a while, and there could be a myriad of reasons for that.”
The law enforcement veteran explained:
“There’s probably some investigative information in there that the detectives don’t want out to the public.”
Hmm. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been very tight-lipped about a LOT of details surrounding this case, especially the state of the home when investigators showed up. This is so important, particularly in this case, because there have been many ransom notes. In order to make sure fake demands aren’t acted on, identifying information about the crime scene needs to stay private.
That said, as the weeks have gone by, the Guthrie family has shared more details about the scene, such as Savannah revealing on the Today Show:
“The back doors were propped open…there was blood on the front doorstep. And the Ring camera had been yanked off.”
Sooo, not everything has stayed a secret!
Still, Gilliam doesn’t have hope that those recordings will be released soon:
“Don’t hold your breath. I think it’s going to be quite a while before we hear anything like that.”
Elsewhere in the podcast, the experts also chimed in on whether or not they think just one kidnapper was involved.

Based on the fact that Savannah has stressed that Nancy struggled with mobility issues, and the fact he believes the masked man caught on camera “had a radio in his pocket,” Gilliam believes there were at least two or three people on scene. Former homicide sergeant John Lamb agreed:
“My belief is that we’re talking about certainly two, potentially three; two abductors, one person in a transport vehicle who was also acting as a lookout.”
It remains so shocking that we still don’t have a clear idea of what happened — let alone where Nancy is! We hope authorities will uncover a new lead soon!!
