Love Island USA Cast Member Speaks Out After She’s AXED From Show For Using Racial Slur

Love Island USA Cast Member ‘Embarrassed & Disappointed’ By Her Racist Resurfaced Videos

Her summer of a lifetime was ruined by her past coming back to haunt her, and now this would-be reality star is speaking out!

Drama engulfed the new cast of Love Island USA right after their identities were revealed. While some were getting called out by their bosses, hopeful contestant Vasana Montgomery was getting exposed for using a racial slur!

Vasana was all set to be in the new season of the Peacock reality series and was already in Fiji. But just days before the premiere aired, she was axed completely! This was after videos of her using the N-word surfaced online. She said the word once when singing a song and another time when yelling at an arcade game. Not good!!! Especially after all of last year’s racism scandals!! A source close to production told TMZ last week that the videos had been private prior to the cast announcement, meaning they didn’t come up when she was vetted for the show.

But once the whole world had seen them, she was on the chopping block and sent packing before she could even appear on TV! But not before facing the wrath of practically the whole internet!

And now, Vasana is speaking out. She issued an apology for her actions in a text-only statement posted to her Instagram Story on Wednesday night:

“I want to address a couple videos from my teen years that have recently resurfaced. In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry. I am embarrassed and disappointed by my words. I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people.”

The 25-year-old said she’s “grown a lot” since the videos were taken, noting:

“Since then, I have grown a lot as a person and taken the time to educate myself, listen, learn, and better understand the impact that language can have. That growth does not erase my mistake, and I am not asking anyone to excuse it. I believe people should be held accountable for their actions, but I also believe in growth, learning, and becoming better. To anyone I hurt or disappointed, I am truly sorry.”
