Could the person who knows Ben Affleck best be hoping he stays single for a while?
According to a new report, Jennifer Garner believes her ex-husband may actually benefit from taking a step back from the dating world following the end of his marriage to Jennifer Lopez. And TBH, just based on the sound of it, this isn’t coming from a place of control or jealousy! Nah, instead, it sounds like it’s coming from someone who has known Ben through plenty of highs and lows over the years…

A source explained as much to Page Six on Tuesday, noting:
“Jen thinks it might actually be good for Ben to take a break from dating for a while. She cares about him a lot and only wants what’s best for him at the end of the day.”
That sentiment apparently goes beyond simply wanting him to avoid another headline-making romance. The insider claimed Garner sees a version of Affleck right now that seems more settled and content than he has been in quite some time. And the source added:
“From her perspective, he’s happier than he’s been in a long time and she feels like it could be healthy for him to keep putting that energy into himself, his work and his family instead of jumping into a relationship.”
It’s an interesting perspective, especially considering the history these two share. While their marriage ended years ago, they’ve remained closely connected through their kids and have often been praised for maintaining a strong co-parenting relationship. That kind of bond doesn’t disappear overnight, and it sounds like Garner still wants to see Affleck thriving.
Before anyone starts speculating that she’s trying to run his love life, though, another detail from the report makes it clear she’s not attempting to make decisions for him. The source said:
“That said, she trusts Ben to make his own decisions and supports him either way.”
So, while Garner may think some time alone could be beneficial, she’s reportedly not standing in the way if Affleck decides he’s ready to get back out there. And that possibility apparently remains very real.

However!!! A separate insider claimed the Oscar winner isn’t swearing off romance forever and could eventually be open to meeting someone new:
“Ben isn’t ruling out dating and would be open to putting himself out there again. He has friends who have offered to set him up, but he’s also incredibly busy right now and isn’t sure he has the time for a serious, committed relationship.”
At the moment, however, Affleck’s attention is reportedly focused elsewhere. Between family responsibilities and a slate of upcoming projects, the actor has plenty on his plate. In fact, sources specifically told Page Six that’s where most of his energy is currently being directed.
Thus, for now, it sounds like Ben’s inner circle — including Garner — believes he’s in a good place. Whether that means staying single for the foreseeable future or eventually testing the waters again remains to be seen, tho!
