After watching the film, the songwriter surprised the audience with a special acoustic performance of her new song, I Knew It, I Knew You. After she gushed about the Disney–Pixar flick, calling it “insanely beautiful” and “a masterpiece.” She gushed:
“It means the world to me to be a small part of the universe of these films.”
She also thanked everyone who worked so hard on the movie:
“If you’re in this room and you worked on this film, thank you so much. Your work is amazing and I hope you’re all proud of yourselves.”
And, of course, she had a nice message for Joan Cusack, who reprised her role as Jessie in the film, saying she’s “done such an extraordinary job as Jessie. It’s an honor to write for her.” Always so gracious!
And that wasn’t all! Taylor had one final and very emotional surprise up her sleeve! She then welcomed “the architect of the Toy Story musical universe,” adding:
“He is the king of making us feel the absolute most and pulling on our heartstrings and making us laugh. He’s one of our friends, you know what I mean? I’m talking about Randy Newman.”
The musician appeared on stage playing the piano, and they performed a gorgeous duet of the iconic track, You’ve Got a Friend in Me. OMG!
