More details are coming out about the tragic death of James Handy.
As we’re sure you’ve heard by now, the Top Gun: Maverick actor was fatally stabbed last week in the Tarzana neighborhood of El Lay County. His girlfriend Wendy Gledhill‘s son Michael was arrested following the incident and charged with murder. He reportedly called 911 on the day of the stabbing to report trouble, and told dispatchers:
“I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.”
Creepy…
Since the 81-year-old’s death, Wendy has spoken out about how hard it’s been to deal with such a tragedy. And now, in a new interview with DailyMail.com, she’s detailing more about what went down that day.
While speaking with the outlet, she revealed she was home that day, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary:
“James had gotten up to get the newspaper at about 9 o’clock, but he didn’t make the coffee like he usually does. I just heard the door open because he was getting the paper.”

At that point, Wendy says she was still relaxing in bed, and didn’t know anything was happening:
“I can only assume my son was already out there and they started to argue, from my understanding, on the front yard.”
It wasn’t until 30 minutes later, when the Los Angeles Police Department was knocking on her door, did she say she finally become aware of the situation. She recounts she told officers she “didn’t know what was going on”:
“The first time I heard something was happening was when the police showed up. They said someone had called 911 and they told me someone was wrapped in a blanket outside the house.”
How horrific… Our heart breaks for Wendy.
It was at that point, she says officers told her to get away from the door because they “thought there was still someone dangerous outside”. In her talk with the outlet, she also recounted what she told TMZ before, saying she believes her son stopped taking his schizophrenia medication recently:
“So I don’t think he was taking it at the time [of the alleged attack], but I don’t know for sure.”
Sadly, Wendy says she’s been “beyond devastated” and hasn’t even left the house since James’ death:
“I was with James for 31 years and of course I loved him dearly. This is so difficult.”
We just can’t imagine… How truly sad.
