David Beckham isn’t entertaining any chatter about his estrangement!
The soccer star has been feuding with his son Brooklyn Beckham for a long time now, and despite it becoming a global scandal, he wants no part in adding fuel to the fire.
In a wide-ranging chat with Variety out on Friday, the journalist tried to subtly hint at the drama between David and Victoria Beckham and Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz, wondering:
“The tabloids have been extra vicious of late regarding your family strife. What sort of toll has that taken on your family?”

But as vague as the question was, David saw right through it! He completely shut down the conversation, replying:
“To be honest, I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about.”
Oof!
David’s dodged questions about Brooklyn before, but he’s never had to be this blunt before. The journalist called the response “fair” and pivoted to asking if David feels he has “any mountains left to climb,” in which he referenced his kids:
“Every day there’s a mountain to climb. I’ve got a life where I’m very busy with what I do. I’ve got four grown kids, the businesses, the club in Miami, but I always want to achieve more. I’ve been like that from a very young age; I was like that as a player and I’ll always be like that. I’ll continue to strive for more.”
We bet one of those mountains to climb is definitely resolving this deepening rift!

And maybe, this kind of response will help show Brooklyn he is willing to do what it takes to make amends? For months now, the aspiring chef has begged for his family to stop talking about him in the media, something his parents just couldn’t seem to do. Until now, maybe. This won’t be resolved quickly — Brooklyn doesn’t even want to reconcile — but perhaps behavior like this will help thaw the ice in time. After all David is honoring Brooklyn’s wishes now, keeping it allllll private!
