What on earth is going on with James Franco?
The disgraced actor joined TikTok earlier this month and has lots of people concerned following a series of frantic videos. In the clips he posted, a disheveled James can be seen wearing a tattered shirt with some sort of marker writing on it, and two pieces of tape over his chest. The first video he posted was from June 3rd, in which he begs fans to believe he’s not AI generated.
He wrote his username on a piece of paper and held it up as he said:
“Hey guys, this is James Franco. Me, really James Franco. I’m here at my house. I’m not promoting anything, okay? I’m making this account because. Some serious, some serious s**t is going on, okay? … It’s real, okay? I’m real. It’s not AI, it’s not anything. Could AI James do this? No, could not. This is me, okay? For those who know, there’s some serious stuff going on. That’s why I’m contacting you, that’s why I’m doing this, okay?”
He even referenced Monsters, Inc. and the 2319 protocol — which, in the movie, is a code for contamination. See the video (below):

In the comments, users reacted:
“What now? We already got a lot going on James!”
“Look James, it’s been a long day..”

“I believe it. Stay safe please James. Protect yourself. We know that if anything god forbid happens, you didn’t do it. Please stay safe.”
“Listen James. Serious? What do you mean? I don’t have time for this.”

The series of concerning TikToks continued with James then claiming in an erratic video that he saw aliens in his garage:
“That’s my garage. That’s normally where I paint. I was going out there, it was night. I was going to do night painting and I go inside and before I even turned the light on, I heard something, I thought it was an animal or something like that. And it wasn’t, it wasn’t a raccoon… I saw eyes, I saw glowing eyes and hand.”
He continued:
“I don’t know how many fingers, but hand, and speaking. I don’t know, something, coming out of… And that was it. I ran, I have not gone back in there, but I’m going to go… I’m going to show you.”

Uhh… Yeah. Fans are worried, to say the least! Because WTF is going on??
But some internet sleuths believe they uncovered the secret. Despite James claiming in his first video that he’s “not promoting anything,” they think that’s exactly what he’s doing. In the replies to one of his videos, a commenter said:
“It’s a movie promo!!! Heck yea!!! Just go look at who hes following! The sunshine movie! Im ready for it”
And they’re right! In his following list, he’s only following actor and Vanderpump Rules alum Shayne Davis, writer and director Christian Guiton, and something called The Sunshine Movie. Fans in the comments reacted:
“Okay fine we’ll watch that movie you can stop now”
“my only concern is why are you wearing the same shirt still”
“WE GET IT”
“I think this is his announcement for his upcoming movie”
“This is just a skit isn’t it?”
But hold up! The director is denying this theory! In his own TikTok, Guiton says:
“It’s not a science fiction movie. It’s not a conspiracy movie. If I was promoting Sunshine, this is not how we would do it.”
He also says he asked Franco about the videos, but all the actor told him was, “I found something… and everyone needs to know.” Wow.
