Kate Gosselin is gearing up for war.
In the wake of Collin Gosselin’s announcement of his tell-all memoir In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, in which he promises to shed light on the “dark side” of his childhood, including alleged abuse from his mother, Kate is bracing for impact.
On Tuesday, an insider spoke to Rob Shuter for his Naughty But Nice Substack, revealing a tactic that may surprise you: Kate isn’t trying to stop the release of her son’s scathing book — she’s just trying to secure an advanced copy of it! The insider dished:
“Kate wants to see every page before it hits bookstores. She knows Collin is making explosive allegations, and she has no intention of being caught off guard.”
We guess if she can’t stop the missile from being fired, she at least wants to be prepared for impact! The insider went on to claim Kate seems to think her son, whom she recently called “mentally ill,” will be inking lies across the pages of his book:
“She believes there are major inaccuracies and missing context. The minute she gets the manuscript, she’ll start preparing her response. This is about protecting her reputation. She feels she’s already been cast as the villain before anyone has even read the book. She’s determined to tell her side.”
Protecting her reputation? Telling her side? What about reconciling with her son? The one she had locked up in a mental health institute at 12 years old? There are obviously two sides to every story, but it’s sad to see such a rigid response to a young person clearly trying to work through their childhood trauma.

The insider concluded:
“Collin is finally telling his story. Kate fully intends to tell hers. This battle is far from over.”
