So… IS that Gracie Abrams song about Taylor Swift??
In case you didn’t know, the 26-year-old singer debuted a brand new song called Death Wish during her last tour. In March of 2025 in London, she sang a live version of the song to fans at the O2 Arena — and IMMEDIATELY everyone started theorizing it was about Taylor!
The lyrics go:
“Hate to say, it’s nothing new / Aside from those few girls you keep around / How will it end? How long will you give me? / ‘Til you twist the knife with a smile while you kill me? / And then you ask me to dance if there’s someone around / You don’t look the same when I look at you now”

At the time, social media users thought this could be a similar song to Olivia Rodrigo‘s The Grudge, which is also rumored to be about Taylor. But unlike Olivia, Gracie and Tay never had any sort of falling out. Grace was even at the wedding!

But still, fans theorized:
“I’m totally convinced that it’s about TS.”
“‘Nothing new / how will it end’ in the lyrics gagged me because they are so obvious TS lyrics”
“When I first listened to it my jaw dropped because I thought it was SO obviously about Taylor. Her use of evergreen and “how will it end” were some give aways.”
One fan even pointed out that it was produced by one of Taylor’s longtime pal and collaborator Aaron Dessner! Theories went wild saying maybe he had something to do with the inside scoop on these lyrics… But actually, he’s saying the opposite!
While speaking to Billboard recently, the music producer was asked if Death Wish is about Taylor. To which he shut down the rumor HARD:
“Definitely not. It was written at a time when [Gracie] was writing about a friend’s ex being in a bad relationship. It was kind of about that person, I think. I wouldn’t even actually know who that person was.”
Well, there you have it! No Taylor shade here. Which, honestly, makes sense. There was no reason for Gracie to go randomly attacking one of her closest friends!
