Hayden Panettiere Shared What She Hoped Her Legacy Would Be In Haunting Final Interview Before Death

Before her sudden death on Sunday, Hayden Panettiere got candid about what she hoped her legacy would be.

On May 26, Hayden was interviewed in what would become her final public interview at a Los Angeles book event hosted by beloved WeHo shop Book Soup at the Harmony Gold Theater. She was there to promote her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning.

At one point during the event, the Nashville star shared a now-haunting comment, per Page Six:

“I can hopefully leave the world a better place than I found it. The strength is in our vulnerability.”

Aww, Hayden. Her talent, vulnerability, and courage to speak up about trauma certainly did leave a lasting impact.

Elsewhere in the convo, the mother of one said that many people in Hollywood had come forward to her about relating to the struggles she shared in her book, which made discussing her difficult past “worth it.” She explained:

“So many people have come up to me within the industry and outside of the industry and shared their stories with me and said, ‘Because you’ve talked about your mental health, it gave me the courage to be honest about mine and get myself help, and you saved my life.’”

Very powerful!

Sadly, she also shared her hopes for her future career, noting she “would love to direct,” especially so she could protect the next generation of child stars. The Heroes alum said:

“I really want to direct and be that person that creates a safe environment for actors and be like, this is the experience you’re supposed to have. I would love to produce.”

She continued:

“People don’t always understand what they’re asking of young actors emotionally. I remember having to advocate for younger performers and stepping in when people expected too much from them. I become very protective. If somebody’s pushing a child too hard, that’s when I start growling.”

The 36-year-old had such an important mission. We’re so, so sorry she will no longer be able to chase her dreams, but we hope her friends and family find comfort in knowing that through her past work and advocacy, she’s already helped so many!

Rest in peace, Hayden. You were so beloved.
