Trouble ahead for those who were hoping Courteney Cox would be back together with David Arquette by New Years!

Sources are reporting that Courteney stayed close to one particular man the other night at the Cougar Town holiday bash – her costar Brian Van Holt.

While sources suggest that they didn’t show any definite signs of being in a romantic entanglement, they confess that “Courteney and Brian pretty much stuck together the majority of the evening.”

Hmm. Should we chock that up to moral support or perhaps the start of something new?

Anyone know if there was mistletoe at this bash?
