Buyers Quitters remorse? Eh, he shouldn’t think that way!
Sources are claiming that a mere two months after Regis Philbin made the official announcement that he would be retiring from his long-running morning talk show, Live with Regis and Kelly, he’s starting to regret his decision to leave.
Insiders close to Regis claim that he thought his announcement would open the doors for a slew of “great offers” to come his way, but so far, the phone hasn’t rang once. A friend of Reg adds:
“He’s 79, and everyone knows TV is a young person’s game. What was he thinking? I’m sure he looked at how the public has welcomed back Kathie Lee [Gifford, his old co-star] on ‘Today’ and assumed they would do the same for him. But as of now, he hasn’t had any great offers.”
Well, maybe they’ll start coming in once he gets closer to the finish line with ABC. True, if he was in real high demand, he would have been bombarded with offers from the start, but lets not forget that he is getting on in years. Maybe his people just don’t want to overwhelm him right now.
Besides, like we’ve said before, Regis should take some much needed time off before he jumps right back into working again. He and Joy should take a cruise, putter around an island or something for a least a few months. Man’s worked hard – he deserves that much.
Then, maybe if whoever they get to replace him doesn’t work out, he can get back into the gig. We having a feeling he won’t though. Give him enough time and he’s sure to see that he made this decision for a reason.
