Now this is pretty inneresting, you guys!
In an interview with Jerry Bruckheimer, he has said that any future Pirates of the Caribbean projects will be stand-alone films, and that they’ll continue as long as Johnny Depp wants to reprise the role.
Do we really want all self-contained movies? Are we as viewers not wanting to continue the cliff-hanger movie style, or multi-film story arcs?
Here’s what Jerry said:
“The audience told us what they loved about it is that it was fresh, it was new, it was a whole new story. So that will carry over into the next one, too, to give it something fresh and different. As long as the audience embraces this one, we├óΓé¼Γäóll certainly try to make another one. It├óΓé¼Γäós really up to Johnny. He loves the character.”
And this point was brought up, which is an extremely cool way of looking at it:
“He can be the new James Bond ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ less well groomed, less obviously drunk and even more difficult to recast.”
We don’t know about him being LESS obviously drunk, because, well, look at him. But, we do agree that this means that it would take a Bond-like format, and you know what?
We’re okay with that!
The character is strong enough to carry the series, so we’d like to see it continue in this fashion. Might give it less probability of a three-installment-story-let-down, you know?
Do U think they should go this direction??
