Facebook Apologizes For Removing Gay Smooch Pic

Gay Okay on Facebook

All is right in the world…of Facebook, at least!

The social networking site that recently came under fire for forcibly removing a photo of two men kissing from a page protesting an act of discrimination in London, has apologized and re-posted the pic.

Originally, Facebook cited their reasoning for removal as:

“Shares that contain nudity, or any kind of graphic or sexually suggestive content, are not permitted on Facebook.”

However, after the news feeds erupted in anger and those offended by the homophobic act posted more pics of gay kisses, Facebook changed their status and apologized for the “error”.

A statement released from Facebook read:

“The photo in question does not violate our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities and was removed in error.”

An error in judgement maybe. The site says that a “Facebook administrator” is responsible for looking each post flagged for removal, then it is their job “to decide the appropriate course of action.”

While this SHOUD NOT have happened in the first place, we’re glad Facebook made it right, although their actions (or one administrator’s actions) have offended A LOT of people.

Thank you to all the people who spoke out against this discriminatory act and helped Facebook recognize their wrong doing.
