Welcome to the franchise biz, Bardem!
In what will surely be considered one of the biggest deals this year, Javier Bardem has officially signed on to star in the movie and TV adaptations of Stephen King’s Dark Tower. As Ron Howard’s first choice for the role, this is a enormous deal for everyone involved and with Javier in place, production on the first movie should begin this September.
Thing is, so far, Javier’s contract only has him confirmed for the first movie (three are planned) and the mini-series. We suppose that should this project not blow up like everyone assumes it will, after the first two installments, the studio will cut it’s losses and move on.
We doubt that will happen, though. The series has a pretty deep and devoted fan base. No doubt Javier will be locked in for the other two movies shortly after the first reigns supreme at the box-office.
