If you are looking to fine-tune your gaydar, Ohio State University psychologists might have some useful information for your arsenal. According to a recent study conducted at the school, gay men have a tendency to pronounce vowel sounds differently than straight men, thus they become discernible from heterosexual males.

Seven gay and seven straight men participated in the study in which they were asked to pronounce single-syllable words. Study participants were then asked to listen to the men recite these words, like “food” or “mass”, and then decide which orientation the man identified with. According to the results, 75% of the participants were able to determine the correct orientation of the guys just by listening to them speak.

Fascinating…or is it?

We wonder…do U think you could correctly determine someone’s sexual preference simply by listening to their voice? Is that a realistic indicator? We’re somewhat skeptical ourselves. Inflection is such a tricky thing.

Thoughts?
