Rihanna Defends Controversial New Video

e=”true”/>As we reported, Rihanna is getting some backlash yet again for one of her videos. This time it’s for Man Down, which we’ve posted above. The problem the PTC and another watchdog group is having is that it depicts the singer gunning down a rapist.

Now, Rihanna is speaking up on Twitter in defense of the video’s message and her artistic right to make it:

“Thank you for the amazing response on ManDownVideo I love you guys, and I love that u GOT IT!!!”

“Young girls/women all over the world…we are a lot of things! We’re strong innocent fun flirtatious vulnerable, and sometimes our innocence can cause us to be naïve! We always think it could NEVER be us, but in reality, it can happen to ANY of us! So ladies be careful and #listentoyomama! I love you and I care!”

Yet again, we feel like they’re overreacting a bit here. It’s like they just avoided the lyrics altogether, so we totally agree with Rihanna about understanding the message!

And what exactly are they trying to prove by saying:

”If Chris Brown shot a woman in his new video and BET premiered it, the world would stop. Rihanna should not get a pass …”

Did the woman rape Chris Brown? Is Chris Brown NOT someone who has physically assaulted a woman in this scenario? Is he singing about regret for his actions?

Like we said, we get what they’re trying to say about if a man shot a video with the situation reversed, we get that, but a music video is made specifically for a song, so listen to the song as well as watch the video.

That’s all we’re saying, and maybe it would make a little more sense in that context so you wouldn’t have to get so worked up so fast.

No worries Rihanna, we’re sure most people loved the video!
