UN Passes Gay Right Resolution

The U.N. Human Rights Council has finally passed their first gay rights resolution, resulting in support for equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation!!

It was introduced by South Africa, and passed 23 to 19, with 3 absentees.

Here’s what’s being said:

“It really is a key part in setting a new norm that gay rights are human rights and that that has to be accepted globally.

“It talks about the violence and discrimination that people of LGBT persuasion experience around the world,” she said, “and that those issues … need to be taken seriously. It calls for reporting on what’s going on, where people are being discriminated against, the violence that is taking place, and it really puts the issue squarely on the U.N.’s agenda going forward.”

This is FANTASTIC news for the LGBT communities all over the world. While we’re sure that discrimination won’t end over night, this is a step in the right direction to those deciding whether or not what they’re doing is in line with the U.N.’s decision!

It was best put when said that gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights!

EQUALITY FOR ALL!!
